Well, Crediar never gave an ETA.. he just said don't update. We've been telling people not to update past 5.3.2 for months now. :P

People may expect it to be here in the next week, when in reality it could take months to develop.

But we are used to it now :P That wouldn't kill me to wait a few more months lol.

I personally disagree with the idea of FW spoofing, mostly for the fact that it allows a direct door to ruining online.
It's a bit of a double edged sword. For some people, it's a wonderful utility and opens up further research, for others it is a way to cheat online again.
What would be interesting is if there was some sort of imposed check in the firmware spoofer that made it so that you couldn't modify online content while spoofing, you'd just be able to play it vanilla. However, when you turn it off, you could do any mods you want. That way cheating online stays minimal, if cropping up at all, and basically everyone gets what they want legally. I don't know if that's actually possible/feasible to do, I'm just thinking aloud

there is always the possibility of just doing enough to bypass on disk updates but not bypass online checks, generally speaking the former is easier, although i would like online and eshop access i know asshats would be asshats and ruin it all anyway
Maybe it's possible to disable all other hacks when fw spoofing is enabled, just like it's impossible to use Cafiine and TCPGecko at the same time...

It should be possible, I just need to tweak the coreinit patches and move the sections a bit.

It would be best IMO if any firmware spoofer was put outthere, it would have be checking for the title being loaded and if its not e-shop, netflix, or youtube, it wouldn't spoof the firmware. That would prevent online cheating since games themselves would be unable to go online. but you could still access e-shop, DLC, and other apps.

Maybe we also want to play Mario Kart 8 and other games online without updating...

you wouldnt need to update if you have a firmware spoof if its on 5.5.x!!

maybe true but how else do you propose to have hacks/modded console and run legitimate copys of the latest games. you need 2 different firmwares? or a hack for the higher firmware which would lead to cheaters online again anyway. :/
