Hi guys, can someone help me out please? I'm trying to install rxTools on my unit (4.5.x-xK). Downgraded from 6.x to 4.x (MSET ROP installation wasn't working), got nand backups, formatted emunand and now able to access rxTools via web exploit. I'm following the tutorial thread, should I install MSET first or update the emunand first? I keep getting errors trying to update the emunand (shitty internet connection or firewall, probably) and it sucks having to boot up rxTools every time I try to update the emunand.

Can I install MSET first (via FBI 1.14) and then install a 9.x update using a game CIA instead so that I don't have to do OTA update?
No. If you update to 9.2 using a card it'll update your Memset to 9.2 Memset. You'd have to have a method to launch rxtools via browser in order to re-downgrade the MSET to 4.X/6.X. If your version / browser is -20 (E/U) then you can just use the nightly and it'll launch from browser after update, if its -10(E/U) then you'll have to use Rxtools 2.6b in SysNand mode to install the updated browser after you update, the current rxtools nightly doesn't have an exploit chain for the -10 browsers on 9.2

I just installed rxTools (rxTools_08-09-2015_14.25CEST_31342de_unstable) to my 4.5.0-7K using the rxinstaller.bin method. I heard that there was a recently released firmware update... is it safe to update? If I can't update yet then what can I do with the system for the time being? Or am I stuck at 4.5.0-7K for the time being? Is there any way I can update my unit to a later version (aside from OTA as it will install v10).

Sysupdater in Devmode to update sysnand; OTA on emunand (10.0 works)

Why is that? I thought it was safer for to unlink nands? According to the tutorial by samiam144, it helps prevent getting the sysnand from being updated accidentally?

What "range of issues" please elaborate
Well, off the top of my head, there's the unwrapping bug, the data management bug, and internet settings carry over between sysnand and emunand. I know there's more, but those three reasons are enough to show why it's a good idea to unlink NANDs.

The unwrapping bug is the bug where you have to always unwrap the cia package on both nands every time you want to open them right? Haven't come across the other two, can you please elaborate (or link to the discussion)?

Unwrapping is easy fixed by installing game in emunand then in patched sysnand, data management works fine here

Correct. The data management bug is where visiting Data Management in one of your NANDs (I don't remember which, as I'm unlinked) will wipe your installed CIA games. The internet settings carry-over means any access points you set up in emunand will replace your internet settings in sysnand, and vice versa. It means you won't be able to prevent the update nag in sysnand if you've got a valid connection setting in your internet settings. It also means people with access to your 3DS can update it via online updates.

That's nice. These are well documented issues though, and when they can be prevented by simply spending a few minutes to format one of your NANDs, the only valid reason not to unlink them is if you don't want to have to install GBA VC and DSiWare games on both NANDs.

Can someone just point me in the right direction to download rxtools 3.0 beta 8? That is apparently the most stable but I can't seem to find it anywhere, all I find are nightlys and they're all labeled

Rxtools (some date) unstable

Thanks

hey,
I just bought a new sd card to install Rxtools to my 9.2 console. However i have a game installed on my original sd card from eshop namely Pokemon X. I have awful lot of play time on that and i don't want to lose my savefiles or the game. Is there a way to keep my game or the saves when installing Rxtools and emunand?

Just copy the Nintendo 3DS folder from the old one.
