Hi everyone,

I've got a client who has just bought an o3DS for his 6-year-old son. I mentioned about making sure the 3D is turned off and perhaps disabling it in parental controls, but when I looked at the Home menu there was no system settings button. Also, unlike on my 9.9 n3DS, the top left corner of the bottom screen has a brightness button instead of the Home Menu Settings button which can also be used to access system settings. I've never used an o3DS so I don't know if this is normal. Can anyone help?

TIA!

can you post a pic of the home menu?

We can look at a few clues in the top screen. If it says we can activate the camera with L+R on the bottom right corner then it's 7.0 or higher. If it says we can take screenshots with Y on the bottom left corner, then it's 9.0 or higher.
If it has none of those, it's lower than 7.0.

If it's on fw 9.2 or lower, it's exploitable and you can install a clean firmware on it.

If it's not exploitable you could just update it online.

Ok I'll email my client and ask him to email me a photo. I do remember that L + R activated the camera as I did it by accident and it switched to the camera, but I can't remember if it said anything about taking screenshots.

L+R would still activate the camera on old firmware as it used to be L or R individually would activate the camera, but they changed it to both at the same time to prevent accidental presses.
Have you tried scrolling all the way to the right? Maybe someone moved the icon off screen.
Edit: :ninja:

No it doesn't (just tested) you really need to press only L or R, pressing both does nothing more then both icons animate a little by going a little down, that's all
