Hacking Mset error? (9.0U 3DS)

Ha, okay, so I finally went about getting my console updated from 4.2 to 9.0 so I would eventually be able to extract my Pokemon AS save from my cart and import it to my Gateway.

I updated successfully to 9.0 with the help of Devmode in rxTools and sysUpdater. Everything seems to work just fine, except for the DS Exploit. I receive the "An error has occurred" screen as soon as I click on the DS Profile option in System Settings.

I assumed before updating that there would probably be kinks here and there that I would have to fix, but I have not found a page yet that has a solution for this problem.

I have attempted to install an mset 4.x CIA while in Devmode to see if this would fix the issue, but I apparently don't have permission to install it? (whenever I try, it tells me it can't). I have also tried the option in rxTools to downgrade my mset, but it says that it is already exploitable, so it won't do it.

Is there anything that could fix this issue? Even if there is no way of using mset on 9.0 firmware for Gateway, is there any way I can revert it back to a functional capacity?

You need to downgrade to 4.x using the GW downgrader

To get retail carts tp GW you don't need to update system nand you just need to install and boot RX tools in emunand, rip the save with NTR then boot back into GW emunand. Once in run NTR and import the save to the rom

Okay, before I do this then, by using NTR, I CAN extract saves from Card1 and Card2 carts, correct? I have been sent in many different directions on this subject as of recent, and I'm about ready to give up.

Yes I do it all the time, with both game types just make sure to have a save made while in GW emunand so there is something to write too when you go to restore. Use ntr 3.0 with save plugin and you should be fine

All of this works fine. Unfortunately, it still won't transfer my save.
I go into rxTools Emunand and run NTR CFW, then run Pokemon AS while holding L to backup save. Screen flashes twice, and I continue.
I restart 3DS, go into Gateway Emunand, run NTR CFW and hold R as I start up Pokemon AS on my Gateway card. Screen flashes twice, but the save doesn't work. By that, I mean the brand new save I made to overwrite still shows up.

Is the rom and the cart the same region?

All Pokemon games have anti-save-restore.
NTR doesn't provide a method to delete secure value.
You still need SDF to delete the secure value.

BTW, I never fail on Sys 9.2.0-20J + msetdg.bin 4.X/6.X.

Okay, so basically, I've got to be on 9.0 or higher firmware to get it working?
Also, you say your mset works. You mean you have your MSET working for Gateway? If so, how? Mine basically told me it was broke once I updated my sysNand the first time around.


Alright, I'm going to explain my exact process as I try this again. I'll update as I do more:

Went into Devmode, installed sysupdater.
Upgraded 3DS firmware to 9.2.0-20 with sysupdater in Devmode.
Restarted 3DS and went into rxTools menu. Downgraded Mset to 4.x.
Went into rxMode Emunand. Installed SaveDataFiler.
CTR Card reads correctly now.
Huh... Everything seems to be working now. Don't know what happened. Thanks guys!

Mset downgrade only works for rxTools & CakesFW (and maybe other ones?).
GW's mset does require an entire 4.1-4.5 SysNAND to be performed.

Wow, you posted just before I did. Thanks for the info. So basically, if I want to use the DS exploit with GW, I'm gonna have to downgrade again? If so, I'm okay with this. I'll just extract all the saves I need and then downgrade.

EDIT: In addition, how do I go about injecting the save into the Pokemon rom on Gateway? Now that I have extracted it with SDF, can I use NTR to inject it?

EDIT2: Okay, so I got it extracted, created a .sav file on my SD card for it, then renamed the .sav to the correct title ID. Result: "The saved game data is corrupted." found when starting the game up... Back to the lab for me...

Finally managed to get it to work. I downgraded and upgraded my firmware again due to me messing my MSet up again when I had installed the Gateway Mset on 9.2 again, then I ripped the save again. I finally broke down and got a bigger SD card that I could use to dump my own Pokemon cart to and used it. Once I cleared the data in Gateway on that one and imported the save again, it all worked as it should! I guess my last issue was just the rom I was using. Thanks guys!

One last question, and then this can be closed by a Mod: Will my Gateway saves and such, such as Pokemon that I just imported, still work if I downgrade back down to 4.2 again so I can use the DS exploit for Gateway?

GW saves always work regardless of SysNAND.
Because GW mode forces all GW saves in KeyY 1.0-2.2 format.
