No, no and no.

Same answer for all three. Massively different architectures, the former two being MIPS-based, and the latter being PPC-based. Not even remotely similar to the 3DS's ARM architecture. This makes it difficult to realistically suggest emulating even the PS1. The PS1 was able to be emulated on the PSP because it shared the same MIPS-based architecture. Not the case with the 3DS.

This means a fairly meaty CPU is required. The 3DS and even the New 3DS have underpowered CPUs not remotely capable of the task. The multi-core architecture of the 3DS's CPU would be of little help.

Thanks for answering.

It saddens me that It won't even emulate the PS1.

PS1 possibly.

PSP and Gamecube, no way.
The PSP has a 333MHz CPU, the Gamecube has 486MHz.

The 3DS has a dual-core 268MHz CPU and the New 3DS a quad-core 268MHz CPU lower than both PSP and Gamecube.

Of course, the lower clock rate doesn't necessarily mean the 3DS' CPU is weaker than the PSP's or the Gamecube's. But I don't think it's even possible to emulate a CPU with a higher clockrate, since they run at a frequency the 3DS itself isn't capable of achieving

The sad fact is that the 3DS's CPU is actually inferior to even the PSP's CPU in many ways, at least for emulation. The CPU's strength is in the multi-core architecture, which would only be of limited usefulness.

I thought I read that the 3ds was capable of having gamecube games ported to it. Will nintendo ever do it?
Ported, probably yes. But that's a very different thing - the game would be remade for the 3DS's own architecture rather than having to emulate a completely different architecture.

The 3DS has Donkey Kong Country Returns which is a Wii port. It has Metal Gear Solid 3 which is a PS2 port (not best port ever, but still...)

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Nobody is doubting that a port would be possible.

Porting has nothing to do with emulation, though.

Ported and emulate are totally different

quite right.

But lets not forget about rom injection that was possible with the Wii wads, and also the method in which PS2 and PSP games can be played on PS3 cfw. None of this was done with homebrew emulators.

No, they're done using emulators made by Nintendo instead. The injected Wads still use emulators. All Virtual Console games use embedded emulators.
