Ever wanted certain emulators to work on the wii but was limited by the power? Well folks now if you build your Emulators based on the wii u specs in vwii you could even run xbox 360 games if you code it right. As it stands the specs for the wii u dwarfs the wii and smashes xbox one. Wether or not that was a good thing or not is beyond me. If someone skilled remade emulators made specifically for the wii u vwii we could finally see working ps1 and nds systems on the wii. I say this becuase my pc I just realized is built on wii u specs XD

I think this thread has thoroughly confused me O_O
Okay so one of the main reasons homebrew was limited by the wii is it was equavilant to windows xp in terms of limitations. Since I took apart my wii u and found out the specs are powerful enough to run battlefield 3 at high settings I got giddy and bealched into the forums so first and foremost I apologize. The jist of the post is to call on coders looking to make the wii u the ultimate homebrew system. Hands down if someone skilled worked on re-writing emulators that take full advantage of the specs you could potentially someday run xbox360 games. Honestly I would settle for a working xbox - ps2 and nintendo 64 emulators. So like the title stats anything is possible with the wii u.

Absolutely not. Yes, it can do SO much more than the Wii could, but there's NO way in hell it can emulate the 360. It could run on an interpreter, due to the fact that their processors are very similar and even use the same architecture, but never full speed. VERY slow to be honest, since it's clocked slower. Nintendo consoles tend to be the most loved when it comes to homebrew so I'd love to see what we get once homebrew on the Wii U becomes as popular as the Wii.

So your saying since your PC has same specs as Wii U, it is possible to run the same stuff on it in vWii ?
vWii does even have access to full Wii U power so No.

The PS2, Xbox 360 and other complex emulators are extremely complex and require tremendous CPU power to run, Xbox 360 emulation doesn't even run on PCs all that well, if at all, what makes one think the Wii U can do it. The Wii U is barely more powerful, so that's out of the question. Anything from the Atari to N64 and maybe Dreamcast or even the PSP, sure, but PS2 and Xbox 360? That's impossible, given the architectural differentials in CPUs, the documentation available (or lack thereof) , the fact there's no emulator of the 360 that really runs commercial ISO images. There's no way.

Atari, NES, Snes, Genesis, N64, GBA, DS, PSP, Dreamcast, sure...PS2, X360, no way a in hell can it be done.

There are ways around it. You can't tell me there isn't I mean look at Desmume about 5 years ago they said it was not possible.

My pc is built on the wii u specs (Unknowingly.) I run ps2 emulators all the time for the sake of kingdom hearts 2 and final fantasy x2

Also vwii does have access to the hardware upgrades because I ran not64 on both and wii u performs better and games like paper mario 64 no longer have severe lighting errors or slowdown.

There's Xenia. It runs DBZ Raging Blast at decent speed, actually. Despite the crazy as fuck GPU artifacts.

EDIT: OMG, PPSSPP on WiiU would be AMAZING!! Monster Hunter Freedom streamed to the WiiU Gamepad... My body will never be reggie enough for that...

It can and should be done. ps2 and ps1 and even xbox should be able to run on the vwii for certain. Also a properly coded mame emulator (Which I ran with much worse specs on a pc.)

PSOne, yes, because an emulator for that for the Wii has existed for years. PS2 and Xbox, again. No.

EDIT: Speaking of Xbox (Original), there isn't even an emulator for it on PC... Well, there is, but it only runs Halo, very slowly.

Again, you're equating the specs of a console with those of a PC, it's not the same even if the hardware is similar.

Um, no, that's impossible; vWii runs at the reduced clock speed of the Wii, 729 MHz tops, yes, there are three cores, but 729 Mhz cannot emulate a PS2 or Xbox 360, emulation is not magic, my friend, you need far more computational power relative to the clock speed of the console you want emulated. Emulation is emulating the hardware using software, hence all the work has to be done in the CPU.

PS2 cannot be done on the Wii U. Period. If you were a programmer, you would know full well how emulation works, but clearly, you have this crazy notion that the Wii U cannot emulate everything, much less in vWii mode.

Okay the power of a system is based on hardware so even in your logic it is still doable. The bottom line is it has the power. If you don't believe it fine. I build pcs and mod systems for fun and I understand them. (I just wished I was a skilled coder than I could make you eat your words.)

Newsflash, OP

Emulation =/= magic

You can't compare Intel x86-64 (PC) architecture to MIPS (PS2) or even IMB PPC (Xbox 360) processor architectures, they're not one and the same.

Wow, you really are determined aren't you? Emulation can't "just emulate something" just like that. Learn programming, get the source code to PCSX2, port it to Wii U and then come and tell us.

So, the Wii U's tri-core 1.2 GHz CPU, can emulate a PS2, and all its hardware components, DVD-ROM, Emotion Engine, 162 MHz GPU, and all the other processors and co-processors, and even the Vector Units, all at full speed. Wow, okay then.

Do you even know what the Specs of the Wii U are?
Wii U 2GB RAM !> Xbox One/PS4 8GB RAM

EDIT: Also on the subject of Emulating Systems, When it comes to that You require more power than the system you are trying to emulating say for example, You have a Bike with 4 Wheels (2 Big ones and the 2 Training Wheels) and then a Bike with 2 Wheels only, The 4 Wheel bike is easy to ride because its Balanced, But at first the 2 Wheel bike is difficult because you must learn to balance, With systems you are trying to have one CPU Interpret a set of instructions it doesn't know how to understand and thus it needs more power in order to understand it
