I expect they will do that but there might be other ways to escape YouTube as well. The best thing for them to do would be to update the app patching the bug and require everyone to update to be able to use the app.

Maybe you're right, but then how are people supposed to install ironhax?
He's being purposely vague so it's hard to get much out of what he's saying, I still think my theory makes sense but I guess yours does too. None of the things he has said points either one way or the other but when you put it all together I think my theory makes the most sense. There are things he has said that don't really make sense in your theory, every piece fits together in mine.

Why do you insist on turning this into a competition, as if you would win something by being "right"? It's not "my theory" against "your theory": only Smea knows how the exploit will work. I suspect that neither of us has enough information (nor the technical know-how) to provide a definitive answer. I'm sorry, but your "if I'm right, I'm calling it" attitude is rubbing me the wrong. So, for the time being, the most sensible thing is that everyone installs the YouTube app and wait for Smea to release his work.

Sure, I agree with that. Didn't mean to turn it into a competition, or claim that what I'm saying is right, I'm just telling you my thoughts on it. By no means should it be considered anything more than that. :)

No harm done. But this thread has had enough senseless assumptions and pointless conjectures for a lifetime. Some people even claimed, beyond a shade of doubt, that Smea had been smacked by a C&D by Nintendo and that he was facing legal action as big as Geohot's... It's better to wait and see how everything unfolds :P

Isn't homebrew technically legal though? Or is a C&D different here? I remember Geohot releasing more information about the PS3 than he should of like keys.

do you guys remember about the new3DS gateway wait period ?
it's clear they managed to exploit that system in late november via ninjahax, after that we waited while they were looking for a free entrypoint available for everybody, that couldn't be patched.
they never found one, around that time there were rumors about those entrypoints :
-webbrowser : new3DS web browser in different on new3DS, and isn't there at all on 8.1 japanese systems.
-miiplaza : would stop anyone from using miiplaza
-AR Games : same^
-youtube : which is probably just a webbrowser with a locked domain (to youtube.com) built on a very old webkit that is full of holes. problem is it couldn't be used by gateway since you was to download it from the eshop (byebye 9.2, or the app would be repoved or patched in a matter of days)

Smea is based in France right ? I'm asking because hacking/reverse engineering in against to law in some countries, right ? at least I know it's not in France.

For this specifically, it looks like it actually uses a version of webkit newer than the Internet Browser.
  • Looks like the YouTube application uses a newer version of Webkit than the Internet Browser applet. It has the ability to construct Blobs, of course the HTML5 video element, and possibly the Audio element (Visible, but untested). It also supports the localStorage API.

Actually, he's in Seattle right now.

I recently bought Cubic Ninja at a price practically given away, € 4 well beyond the value it has on ebay / amazon. I must say I'm satisfied by Ninjhax, now I was thinking of doing the same thing on my 3DS Japanese. Unfortunately, the version of Cubic Ninja JAP reaches absurd prices, some descriptions own report that it is possible to use the game for the Homebrew. I could not follow well the discussion on this new project but I was wondering: this Youtube Hax also supports the Japanese version?

I stand corrected, but even then, the page is from september 4th 2014, it might still have what spider had to be exploited on 9.0-9.2, guess we'll see :)

If YouTube was on the Japanese eShop, chances are it will work. There just wasn't Ironfall.

the only thing I'm waiting for it the support for OOT ninjhax 1.0 or ninjhax 2.0 since it's been showcased that these new expoit are capable of using a save manager capable of extracting/injecting game saves and I think there also a vid of ninjhax working on OOT

Ironhax can do these as well, and so would the exploit for YouTube.

Youtube is on Japanese eshop. If the exploit will also work with the Japanese version I'll be more than happy. More than anything else the region free function, which I was pleased to use my PAL consoles, I'm very interested.

I've been following this thread and I really want to get youtube on my 9.2j n3ds, but is it worth it to link nnid to get it? Currently I've only been using pasta and playing cias via sysnand (no emunand) so if I were to link nnid should I separate them first before I do so?
Why not just install a .cia of youtube?

I'm sorry for my question, but I'm confuse here. I have 3ds with 9.9 emunand. I do have ironfall and about to get YT. Does this hax bring any benefit to me?

hi guys, im new here also new to 3ds..i just got my old3dsxl(9.9-26fw) for 110$ used for a year by previous owner.. im a poor kid that can't buy a game. will this going to help me to play paid games for free once smea release it?? i already have the ironfall and youtube
Nope unless you get a Sky3DS and even that won't be an option for long.

I'm saying that ironhax or youtube will have the same limitation as on ninjhax 2.0

unlike cubic ninja that runs on ninjhax 1.0 that has some privilages and uses on 9.0-9.2 3ds, so I was hoping OOT will be supported because it might or can use ninjhax 1.0
No, only ninjhax 1.0 can take full control of the system. Everything else after runs like ninjhax 2.0.

I thought I read on temp a year or two back It was
illegal (in france) to own flashkits and I thought they were (working on) illegalizing Homebrew
