I've just bought a new 3ds xl which miraculously came with 9.0. I also have Cubic Ninja.

With regards to installing custom firmware, I know it's a tossup between Pasta and ReiNand. From what I've read ReiNand is newer but seems to have a couple of bugs in it. I just wanted the opinions of someone that has tried them.

Cheers in advance!

Pasta CFW: Installs on sysNAND which increases chance of bricks if you are not careful about what CIAs you (un)install. Has GBA support.
ReiNAND: EmuNAND support up to 9.5.0-23. Can load NTR CFW through CIA. A bit picky about what firmware versions it supports.

You want emuNAND though so you should at least see if reiNAND works for you.

Reinand is too buggy and good luck getting support from ANYONE around here. Not a single tutorial. Enjoy deciphering the instructions by navigating text bullet points.

DO NOT GO REINAND

If this doesn't help, idk what will.
Ninjhax:
Needed Items: Cubic Ninja - Reisyukaku's Pastebin - Pasta cfw- FBI.3dsx - FBI.CIA/Devmenu/BigBlueMenu - Gateways Launcher.dat

Turn off your 3DS
Google gateway-3ds download - download latest version - Cannot link
Extract contents of 'Gateway_Ultra_X.X.X' to the root of your 3DS' SD card (N3DS:\) *
Google Reisyukaku's Pastebin & download "Reinand X.X CFW" - Cannot link
Extract the contents to the root of your 3DS' internal SD card. (N3DS:\)
Download Ninjhax Homebrew Launcher - smealum.net/ninjhax/dl/hbmenu/boot.3dsx
Extract Homebrew Launcher to the root of 3DS' SD card (N3DS:\)
Go to http://smealum.net/ninjhax/ & input your Firmware & Region letter
Download Pasta CFW - https://gbatemp.net/threads/pasta-c...d-on-old-and-new-3ds-required-ninjhax.388925/
Extract 3ds folder to the root of 3DS' SD card (N3DS:\)
Google and Download FBI.3dsx & FBI.cia or BigBlueMenu.cia or Devmenu.cia - Pretty sure cannot link
Place FBI.3dsx in N3DS:\3ds\FBI\
Place .CIA anywhere you want on SD
Turn on your 3DS
Insert your copy of Cubic Ninja & start.
Press A -> Create -> QR Code -> Scane QR code you got from inputing your Firmware & Region letter at http://smealum.net/ninjhax/ (If you already have an exploit installed in CN - Go to main menu, hold L+R+X+Y and follow instructions)
Use Cubic Ninja QR code - Wait for exploit to run & launch Homebrew Menu
Start Pasta CFW
Launch Cubic Ninja -> Ninjhax exploit again.
Start FBI
Select & install your .CIA of choice
Turn off 3DS & backup your SD card.
Turn on 3DS & Launch Cubic Ninja
At Cubic Ninjas home menu hold L+R+X+Y and follow instructions -> Create -> QR Code -> Scan QR in Gateways: Save Games for New 3DS\Cubic\Your Region\
Launch the QR code to enter Gateways Menu
Backup System Nand -> Once done, turn off your 3DS & copy Nand.bin to your computer.
Cubic Ninja -> QR code -> Gateway Menu
Format Emunand -> Turn off 3DS
***If you want to unlink Sysnand & Emunand so you don't have to unwrap .cia app installs every time you boot into Emu, format the Systemnand with the 3DS' SD card removed.***
Moved the backed up SD cards files back onto the SD
Turn on 3DS
Cubic Ninja -> home menu hold L+R+X+Y and follow instructions -> Create -> QR Code -> Scan QR from Ninjhax once again. (Last time you'll need to do this)
Launch QR -> Lauch ReiNand from Homebrew Launcher.

Edit: You may not like text instructions. But this involves bouncing back and forth between the computer & your 3DS. So unless someone has a nice little camera setup or wants to film the 3DS portion with one hand, you'll just have to suffer through a written tutorial. lol

If you consider it as CFW, then Gateway is pretty good also. Region free and firmware spoof out of the box. Only downside is the red card needs to be inserted when booting emuNAND.

Hello N3ds scene!

I'm new to the Nintendo hand help hacking scene... you guys are not going to belive it but I got a mojora's mask limited edition from a fella off craigslist. I traded him a brand new black new 3ds xl plus 100.00 cash on top. came with 9.0 ofw.

I am so confused, my head is spinning! I need some advice like the owner of this thread. I need to know what steps to take, to get cia roms working on my MM N3ds XL I already loaded my copy of cubic ninja, loaded ninjahax to the root of my SD card and snapped a picture of the QR code and loaded the exploit. I tried to run some cia roms from the root directory but the home brew channel menu, didn't see them. I guess i missed a step.

I also have another issue. I have a 128gb microSD card i wanted to use with my MM N3ds XL. "SanDisk Ultra 128GB UHS-I/Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card Up To 48MB/s With Adapter- SDSDQUAN-128G-G4A [Newest Version]"

For some reason, the 3ds won't detect it. I formatted it to fat32 with 64k and 32k clusters, my 3ds still wouldn't detect it. maybe there is a space limitation?

I am most likely going to get a sky3ds but for now, i want to get what i have working, first! ^_^

Okay, you do not need a Sky3DS for anything at this point, you should have everything you need.

First of all, your 128GB card is too big for your system to work with. However, if you look a few pages into the Tutorials forum, there should be a topic discussing how to format it to work properly. Get that working first, so you can use your card.

Second, even with Ninjhax working, your 3DS has these things called "signature checks". They make sure that you're not pirating ROMs with your system. You can get around them with a Custom Firmware that has these checks disabled. You have a New 3DS, so you're going to want either ReiNAND, or Pasta for now. RxTools is a popular choice that gets mentioned a lot, but for right now, it works best for the old models. Stick with Pasta for now, until you're told that RxTools has full N3DS support.

Now then, downloading and installing Pasta is very easy, and there are directions included in the thread. There is just a couple things that you have to remember. First of all, even though we're calling it "Custom Firmware", it is not a permanent install. It will go away if you power off your 3DS or enter into the System Settings, and need to be reactivated. Second, you seem to already know this since you mention having 9.0, but you do not want to update at all if you intend to use a Custom Firmware. Do not allow your 3DS to update at all.

The third thing that you need to know about is how installing a CIA file actually works. ROMs currently come in two formats: .3ds and .cia files. The first of these are used for flashcards such as Sky3DS or Gateway. CIA files are what you would install directly to your system. There is a third format called .3dsx, which are only used for homebrew programs. Ninjhax is only capable of running .3dsx files by itself. In order to actually install CIA games or homebrew to your 3DS, you want a program called FBI. Make sure that you have Pasta installed first, this program does not get around signature checks by itself.

You want to find and download the .3dsx version of FBI, as well as the CIA file. Once you've installed Pasta, activate Ninjhax and turn Pasta on. Now, activate Ninjhax AGAIN. This will keep the signature checks turned off, and bring you back to the Homebrew Launcher. This time, turn on FBI. Use FBI to install the CIA version of FBI to your SD card. This way, you won't need to go into the Homebrew Launcher as much. While you're here, any CIA games or homebrew that you plan on installing can be installed as well.

Your installed games and homebrew should appear on the Home Menu. Keep in mind that they will only work while Pasta is turned on. An easy way to check if your CIA files will work is to highlight one and check the top screen. If the image of the program you have highlighted appears on the top screen, you're good to go. If not, you've somehow deactivated Pasta, and need to re-launch Ninjhax to turn it back on.

It's much simpler in execution than it appears in writing. Tell us if there's a step you don't understand, and somebody should be able to help you out.

No Skype, but I'm usually on the site daily (and tend to leave tabs open when I'm away from the computer, so I'm essentially always online). I'll get any pm you send fairly quickly if you need help. Like I said, there's a lot of steps, but each one is fairly easy and/or self-explanatory. You've got to be putting in some real effort if you want to screw something up that badly.

Fair enough.... I ran a search on the 128gb Sd card and all i got was people talking about how they have a working 128gb SD card working but not how they got it to work. No steps or anything. You found anything on the subject that has any steps to follow?
