So I want to ask for our options. We been going to swap meets and have found some very nice deals on 3ds systems with games on it. Our last find Sunday we got a red 3ds with like 40 games on it, some VC, some DSiware and most are 3DS games for $50. However, all are tied to a NNID that the swap meet person did not know the password. And unfortunately the system is on 9.4 when we got.

So what we had been thinking is this:

1) Update the 3ds from 9.4 to 9.8
2) Setup a spare 3ds with gateway emunand on 9.8
3) System transfer that NNID 3ds to the spare emunand
4) Use funkyCIA to dump the games with "personal" tag
5) Install them on spare 3ds sysnand
6) Transfer this to our new 3ds xl sysnand

Is this even possible? Or what steps can we do to take full ownership of these games?

Thats too bad then guess it will be stuck on this one for now. Another question for future reference so if we do find one that the seller knows the password would this allow to remove games from a nnid? Only asking as if we find some like this with a password given to us it might make it more worthwhile to buy it when we see it.

That and games dumped with the personal tag most likely would not work on sysNAND, only on the same NAND the system transfer was done on.

Nope. Once games are linked to a NNID, they're stuck like that forever.
