Hi, i've been at uni, so am seeing this 3ds scene for the first time.

Will this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00J29FF4G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1435169447&sr=8-2&keywords=microsd+64gb
be compatible with gateway 3ds?

Also what is the difference between microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC?
In the link, the title of the product is SDHC, yet the image shows SDXC.

Last question is the gateway3ds is multirom right? So the 64gb will be of more benefit than the 2gb ones I have from when i used to use the r4?

Thanks

First off do you have an Old 3DS or a New 3DS and what firmware is it on?

old 3ds on version 6.something.
Don't buy a Gateway card your wasting your money refer to this thread and us rxTools its free and does everything gateway does on an Old 3DS simply install CIA versions of games and run them straight from the Sysnand like if they were eShop games (and no you wont get banned) https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-rxtools-roxas75-3ds-toolkit-fw-2-0-9-2.382782/ .

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

@undercoverjamil but to be safe you should make a backup of your Sysnand and save it on your pc using Gateways launcher (you don't need a gateway card to use it) http://www.gateway-3ds.com/downloads/

Hi, alright thanks. I'll have to look into this.
I assume I need a massive SD card then? Shall I just buy the one i posted in the link, but 32gb version?

Also, if I use the rxtools, can I still play normal cartridges?

32gb is more than enough ( I recommend a 32gb sandisk ultra card since it has more than enough read/write at 40MB/s and only costs 15 on amazon) since you can drag and drop CIA,s from your PC and backup there saves using savedatafiler and yes you can still use cartridge games.

Installing CIA is slow. With gateway you can just pop .3ds files on a microsd and just play them. CIA files are just a hassle IMO and not exactly noob friendly

Installing a CIA is slow if you have a bad SD card. When I had my Old 3DS installing Pokemon Y took like 10 min + if your conserned with speed you can close the lid and charge the 3DS while they install in your sleep. Don't make this guy spend 70+ when he has a better free solution.

I'm not making him do anything, just saying there are advantages and disadvantages to each method. And speaking from personal experience I just like Gateway's method better

Install time is not a disadvantage rxTools does so much more than gateway does including GBA now

Hi, I've looked into it now, but have been left with a few questions:

Do I have to downgrade my 3ds first, or can I now run rxtools straight off my 6.2sysNAND?

there are some posts stating that 7.x games (e.g. pokemon, MH4) don't work on CFW. Is this still the case if I update the emunand?

lastly if I only run cias, then they install onto the actual 3ds don't they? Will the 3ds not run out of memory pretty quickly?

Thanks again!

rxTools has been updated that's old info all games run just fine and installing CIA's doesn't take up too much space for example the new Fire Emblem if game is only 1.69 GB compared to the 2GB .3DS version, as for downgrading I don't believe that necessary. First thing you should do is make sure you can run gateways launcher and make a backup of your Sysnand and save it to your PC as a backup.

thanks!
I've literally been sitting here for hours trying to get this thing to work. the instuctions on the rxtools website don't seem to be working for me. there was no .exe in the download, so i changed the .ps extension to .exe and tried to run it, but nothing happened.

Hopefully your link sorts me out
