thank you very much FaTaL_ErRoR.

the question is whether and images (backups) with the program that I think crediar climb.

Although there are no boots, we have the images for the future, no one raises any ...

A lot of people probably would update if not expecting the scene.

I'll just wait for a modchip or some kind of hardware mod and stay updated. Splatoon is worth too much to my girlfriend to fuck with her Wii U's software.
Not going to happen, you're lucky we're even working on a softmod :P anything that costs money is never going to happen because there aren't enough people who have a Wii U that would buy one. Besides, it's not like you can install anything right now. Feel free to update, the plan is still to get stuff working on the latest version, however long that takes, or as close as we can get with emuNAND so people never have to update again. It'll come eventually :)

Hopefully said softmod will come out before 2016 ;)

At this point in time, just don't risk it. I know people want to play Splatoon etc., but we knew this was going to happen eventually.

I have the Nintendo update/eShop addresses blocked via my OpenWRT router and I have still been able to play Splatoon. I noticed earlier today that the download icon had a red blinking dot on it because the system cannot download the update but Nintendo was still letting me log in to Splatoon. Not sure how long that will last but for now it's the best of both worlds :D

Thank god those numbskulls at Nintendo finally removed the pointless TVii icon.
You are not missing anything. I set it up a couple of days ago and that will be 15 minutes of my life I never get back. It was slow as molasses and I didn't even get the point of it.

here we go it's the 3ds all over again...

And you expected Nintendo to not be proactive about preventing unauthorized modifications of their consoles? What's so hard about not updating? Why do people make mountains outta molehills about updating the firmware? Just block the server IP addresses, enter the DNS manually, remove all internet connection settings, and voila, really not that hard.

Since the future is unpredictable and comparisons with other systems are pointless, there really only is one thing you should do and that is NOT to update EVER until an exploit is actually released!

If the exploit requires a higher firmware than what you have installed, you can still use one of the many games to update to that version.
To be fair, not using the internet update screwed some people out of the 3DS 9.2 exploit since the web browser didn't come on carts :P

With the ability to patch out the webkit exploits it's time to grow the websploiters so minutes after update new exploits are running.
I am currently going all the way through webkits update history looking for good bugs. Then with some assistance we'll build the exploit. Then when they update a new exploit gets released within minutes. This cat and mouse game is about to start moving a whole lot faster.
For those that want to help with this you will need qt webkit browser and a ppc system in a virtual machine. (please look at hykem's statement as to which webkit wii u is currently on then work on the next available version and so on) currently 536.30. And if you could only share in pm. We don't want outsiders to see anything. A big community push will help even the odds.

and just miss out on online play all-together brilliant fucking advice!

it's a losing battle anyway when x is out you'll be forced to update.

Hmm, a softmod?

Now, which version should I update, ideally for the EmuNand/Softmod stuff. :)

I am on 2.1.0E ATM.

So if I put back my internet settings (I deleted them completely so my Wii U wouldn't auto update) while I'm playing the Wii U (and then delete them again right before I turn it off), will it update while I'm actually playing it?
If you do that without any eshop filtering, don't forget to disable "background download" in the download manager while you are playing.
That setting is not saved and will reset to "enable download" when you reboot (or maybe when you exit the game?) so be careful.
