I have a o3ds and n3ds, both with <=9.2 firmware.

Is there any reason I should keep my o3ds, assuming gateway will support eshop and latest firmware on n3ds emunand?

The monies :) I want to sell it, but I have doubts about whether the n3ds will hold me in good stead in the future, as gateway seems to be having a lot of troubles with it.

Honestly, do you even want to go back to using the o3DS at this point? The "super-stable" 3D alone makes a big enough difference to me that I could never go back.
My GW works fine on it, I can do anything that I could do on the o3DS, I see no reason to keep your o3DS.
With Pasta/NTR I can still use eShop as well.

I feel the o3ds is better quality. My first and only o3dsxl I bought works like a charm, with no screen or button issues. I've gone through a couple of n3dsxls until I found one that didn't have any major problems [such as stuck pixels, "scanlines", and unresponsive buttons] (it is still inferior build quality imo, as the left backlight on the bottom screen is leaky and the select button is a bit unresponsive. I've given up trying to find a perfect one).

I don't use the 3d, so the superstable 3d is of no big appeal to me. The main reason I bought the n3ds was for the improved speed and c stick. Also, although I can access the eshop with cfw (and ntr was a godsend for system transfer, which I've been waiting since March for gateway to fix), until gateway supports later firmware in emunand, some games just won't run, such as Bloo Kid 2, which seems to require 9.6 firmware just to run.

Furthermore, the micro sd card location is terrible (I know I can use wifi but it's too slow for larger files), the stylus is shorter and in a less convenient location, and the cartridge slot is in an awkward location. Not to mention the absence of a hardware wifi switch.

I'm sure I've read about other things which can't be done on n3ds yet either, but I can't recall. So you can see why I have some reservations about selling my o3dsxl, as imo it is clearly a better designed and higher quality console, with much better gateway support.

I have pasta for GBA games on my o3dsxl and gateway for my n3dsxl

I vote keep it.

If you're not using your o3ds... I vote sell it. Your o3ds might be useful to someone else, it obviously is not being useful to you, otherwise you wouldn't be here asking whether or not to sell it.

Well, there's no guarantee that Gateway will support latest firmware on the N3DS but I guess they should implement eshop spoofing just like the one in Pasta which makes having newer firmware almost worthless.

You make a good point.

So long as the firmware which is supported supports all games.

That might be a problem, but I still think that with many people knowing how to modify 3ds games, plus the ability to patch emunand and install custom system titles through cia, it's not unreasonable to expect most games to work fine. Ironically, the games that have a greater chance of not working are N3DS exclusive titles which wouldn't work on the o3ds anyway lol

I have found disappointingly that Bloo Kid 2 apparently requires at least 9.6 firmware to work (I have tried it in 9.0 NTR and 9.5 emunand). Perhaps all the recent eshop titles need this, but I have not bought any other titles recently, so I couldn't say. So I still hold deep reservations about selling my o3ds. If I had a hard mod, at least I could play anything, but this is hardly ideal.

Keep the O3DS:
- O3DS -> 9.2 sysnand -> emunand 9.8 / N3DS -> sysnand 9.2 -> emunand 9.5 (not higher)
- O3DS -> Patched RxTools, play cia games without gateway in emunand
- O3DS -> eShop access in emunand 9.8 without any extra's needed
- O3DS -> GBA/DSiware support with patched RxTools in emunand, no messing around in sysnand

- About Bloo Kid 2, did you try the cryptofix cia version???

And it's always handy to have a spare 3Ds around in case you mess up your N3DS by accidently upgrading it to latest FW :P

- I kept my O3DS, why, it's the only system on 9.2 ;), for the others i use sky3ds

I couldn't find a cryptofix cia version of Bloo Kid 2. Can I decrypt it myself using decrypt9?

EDIT: Nevermind, finally someone has uploaded a cryptofix version (11 hours ago).

I find the N3DS annoying because it only comes in XL sizes. If you're actually carrying a 3DS with you when going somewhere and need to put it in your pocket, the regular size may be better than the XL size.

N3DS XL fits in my pocket just fine (Even in a carrying case :o), still it's a bit bulky, but I like the bigger screen personally. :P
