So I've been trying to get USB loader gx and nintendont working on my Wiiu's vwii. Long story short, whenever ivload USB loader gx or idle on the HBC too long, it crashes with EXEPTION DSI OCCURED. I looked back over the steps I took and I am now pretty sure what went wrong. I may have used original Wii cios instead of ones intended for the vwii. I've also installed thevusb loader gx's forwarder channel, also intended for the original Wii. I've heard that doing this can brick your vwii. So I want to know what the neccesary steps to take are to fix this.

Install the vwii cios over the wii ones you installed earlier, they will overright them. Take a look at the stickies at the top of the forum for a list of the relevent d2x cios you need and the installer to use.
http://gbatemp.net/threads/beginner...me-backups-and-homebrews-on-wiiu-vwii.388448/
Hopefully you have followed a decent guide and installed in 249/250/251 (if memory serves) not 53etc so you should be fine to simply replace the wii cios with the d2x.
Remove the forwarders as you would any normal channel wad in vwii settings or you can remove it with multi mod manager (prefered)
There is a post here on gbatemp called "Forwarders are back" or something that contains vwii forwarders' that work.

So I've deleted the forwarder channel but whenever I go and try to install the new cios to override the old ones I get EXEPTION DSI OCCURED. Help?

Time to be very careful, it's sounding like you've messed with ios you shouldn't have and semibricked.
What exactly did you do in the first place, which ios have you replaced.
Can you post a syscheck if you don't know so we can see exactly what's been messed with.
Did you backup your nand? I can probably replace your messed up ios with originals from my dumped vios or you could possibly use nusdownloader however I believe they will still show as fakesigned and it may be possible you won't be able to update your wiiu.
You may want to hold off doing anything for now and get some advice from some of the other guy's first, they may be able to help you better. It would still be helpfull to know exactly, step by step what you did and changed, also how you are installing the cios, what versions, your sd card, your usb device give us more accurate information will make it easier to help you before you brick your vwii, if you have used wii ios' we can replace them to original's to hopefully fix your vWii then I suggest you read all the guides and stickies here to learn and understand exactly what it is you are doing and why because it sounds like you used a wii softmod guide with no idea what your doing or why and semi bricked your vwii.

I'm using a 1 gig Kodak sd card, my HDD is an old iomega 80 gig one (I used it because it had its own power supply). I've used the cios available in this thread: http://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-guide-to-install-cios-on-vwii-backup-nand-and-keys.339890/. Every time I try to install these cios now I get the EXCEPTION DSI OCCURRED error.

Ok, install ios36 with http://www.mediafire.com/?4y7vebckurr2m9c Via hbc, you may want to install d2x-v10beta52-vwii after and that should be it.

the cIOS are good, no need to replace them.
IOS236 is not needed either, as he doesn't need to install new IOS or use wad managers anymore.
And 236 is not even needed either, now wad managers are using AHB access and IOS58.

The crash should be caused by something else.

Try using a different SD card.

I'd still personally install 236 and change to d2x-v52 /shrug just a personal preference though and OP cyan is better suited to give advice so definitely follow his advice and try another sdcard

I don't think it's cIOS related because he said the 236 installer crashed too, and it doesn't use cIOS to install.
So, something else from his software or hardware is the cause.

I don't think his IOS are wrong (syscheck detected them as vWii, I didn't check the version but I think they are fine)
syscheck worked ... even writing the file to SD card so maybe the card is fine but it's worth trying another one, just to be sure.

But I agree, using r52 is a better choice if he doesn't need multi-port support in loaders, and emuNAND will work better.

What are the advantages to using emunand? I'm just planing on using the vwii for usb backups. Should I go for r52 or 53? (btw im copying files off my phone's sd card to use for the wiiu).

Nah I don't think his ios are wrong either and his versions seem fine, I think he may be using outdated wad managers etc which is why I think ios 236 may help him but again I'd take your advice over mine

go with v10 (the beta 52).
with v10 alternative (the beta 53), you can use the 2 USB Ports at the back to play Wii games, but it has less compatibility.

Just install v10 and plug to the top port on the back.
anyway, you will need a Y-cable so boths ports will always be used, you won't plug another HDD on the back so r53 is not very useful.

EmuNAND is used to play channels without installing the Wads on your system menu.
You install the channels on a virtual location (on your Sd or USB) and launch them from the loader as if they were installed games.

it also allow you to have more channels installed at the same time than the number of channel you could ever install on your system (because of limited blocs).
on vWii, you have 500MB, on EmuNAND you have 2TB free for channels.

The crash could be because he is using HDD without Y-cable.
Loaders and managers try to mount the HDD and crash
but syscheck mounts the SD card only.

I wouldn't worry about emunand right now if I was you, walk before you run /wink, basically your ios are fine, you haven't installed wii ios they are vwii cios and they are in the correct slots with the correct base. Follow cyans advice and try another sd card and once you've fixed your dsi error I would then change to d2x v52 as in my personal experience they are more stable/problem free.
I would still install ios 236 lol /nudgecyan
