Hacking Games not working after getting Pro CFW 6.60(black screen)

Hey, I got PRO CFW on my PSP (it is PSP-2004). Everything worked fine, but when I got a game in iso form I converted it into cso, put it into the ISO folder on my pc, but if I enter the game on my PSP i get a black screen and nothing works, I have to get the battery off and put it back on. Is there any help I can get to make the games work?

Have you tried more than 1 game?

Also, unless you're concerned about space, just use the iso file instead of converting it to CSO, CSO files are compressed and so load times are larger, along with a few other little things.

The Iso file is bigger than cso so thats why I converted. I only have 700mb of space. Which games would you recomend and what site should I get it from? Could you give me a link?

Try the normal ISO. CSO's are notoriously fraught with problems, and rarely is the slight amount of space saved worth the headache that they are.

As well, you can not request ISO's here, so nobody can give you a game and a place to go get it, but I can tell you that there are plenty of small PSP games out there. Just find something like Half Minute Hero. Last I knew, that particular game was only around 250MB.

Edit: Also, you need a bigger memory card, stat. You aren't going to get anywhere on the PSP with less than 1GB of space. Most of the games really worth playing are around 1GB or so.

If you're looking for relatively inexpensive memory for the PSP, I'd suggest getting a MicroSD to Pro-Duo adapter. A Photofast will let you use two MicroSD cards, and considering the price of 8GB MicroSD cards anymore, you wouldn't have to spend much to have 16GB on your PSP.

Hey, I tried with the normal ISO with the Sonic Rivals game, which is about 250MB, I still get the same problem(black screen when entering the game). Any idea on what I should do to fix this? Once again, thank you for trying to help me.

First test with another ISO and see how that works, but secondly, A: Where are you placing the ISO, theres a directory structure that needs to be followed in order for the console to read the games as games.

Additionally, can you open up your ISO with winrar or winzip and see if it has the correct structure inside and that its not simply a zip file in disguise or something.

I am placing my ISO file in the ISO folder.

It should be in the ISO folder on the root of your memory stick. Make sure it's a clean dump. If you're concerned with space, you can use UMDGen to remove garbage data and to optimize it. No taxing compression that way.

Hey, thank you for replying. The game IS installed on the root of my memory stick.
Are there any things I should check? Someone mentioned the structure of the game. How should this one be?

Which PRO CFW are you using?
Did you apply the permanent patch to the CFW?
Was there permanent 5.X CFW prior to updating and installing the PRO CFW?

Not sure if I know all the answers:
My psp firmware is 6.60 PRO-B10(If I reset it, I use Fast Recovery to get it back), so no, I don't think I applied a permanent patch.
Don't know the answer to the last question, but probably not, there was not.

Delete the seplugins folder from your memory card, and then boot up the CFW completely fresh.

Phantasy Star Portable was okay. Dissidia if you want some mindless action. Crisis Core was also okay. Nothing really stood out to me on the PSP. My most favorite game for it wasn't even an official release, but a homebrew port. It would have to be Cave Story. Even then, it's only worth it if you don't have a 3DS and want it portable.

there are alot of games for the psp to play, just explore, FF Type-0, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, SOCOM series, Ace Combat Series. There is also alot of RPGs to take note of (can't list cause there are tons of good rpg games) PS1 games etc.

Just copy everything (games, saves, songs, etc.) to your new memory card with the same file/folder structure. Don't worry about the CFW, because it is installed in the PSP itself. But you need to copy the FastRecovery file to your new memory card (if you are using PRO CFW).

Also, just a friendly reminder for those who optimize their game sizes:

-There are some games that won't boot if optimized by UMDGEN by cleaning the UPDATE data and so on. So test it first before you delete the untouched/clean dump ISO files.
-Not all games can be compressed to CSO (mostly above 1GB), because sometimes they will not boot and can give you more problems (mostly slowdowns, blackscreens, freeze and crash). So stick on ISO format. Upgrading your memory card is recommended. =D
