Well, I own a Gateway 3DS and I'm having a serious problem. I downgraded from 7.1.0 to 4.2.0 to play DS Flashcards and use the DS Profile exploit. Formatted emuNAND, yadda yadda. 9.6.0 isn't supported, so I reformatted and used Codename: STEAM to update to 9.4.0. This morning, I found out I could update my emuNAND by using cias, so I installed the 9.5.0 cia and rebooted the system. Now, emuNAND worked the first three or so times I booted into it through the DS Profile, but the next time I got "An error has occurred. Hold down the POWER Button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again. For help, visit support.nintendo.com." At first, I only got this message when I tried StreetPass Mii Plaza and System Settings for too long. Now if I just leave my 3DS idle for a couple seconds, I get that message. I removed the Gateway card AND the SD from the console, and I still get this message. Can someone please help me?

Also, I guess I should add in that sometime after I imported the 9.5.0 emuNAND cias, my friend dropped the console. So, maybe that has something to do with it.

Do you have any nand backups from before you started doing things?
I think I have a few, but I also have backups of my friend's NAND so it's really hard to tell.

I believe I know what comes next, but I'm really not in the position to perform a hard mod (I can't do it myself, and I'm broke so I can't hire anyone)

Try to turn off wifi very quickly when you boot your 3DS.If this works, rip in pasta WiFi card/chip/whatever.(Also, a friend of mine already had this problem and he never installed any emunand.)

Yeah, the Wireless was indeed the problem. I guess I'll have to either try formatting now, or hope for the best in getting a new console.

I remember in the region changing thread that Wowfunhappy damaged his 3DS by doing this. There are some .cias that do not have region codes, and are the same across all regions. These are, however, system modules, and it has been speculated that these .cias flash something to the internal components of the 3DS. Long story short, some parts of his system are broken, and it isn't something he's been able to fix even with a NAND mod.

I'm not familiar with the specifics, but that's what this sounds like. The newer guides for region changing/updating using .cias advise you exclude those module .cias.

Edit: I am referring to this post and this post.

I managed to format my system after turning off the WiFi switch, and I stopped getting the message, but after I re setup my gateway, I was an idiot and decided to try the update through cias again. But I'm guessing it broke emuNAND, because it got the same black screen you'd get if you were on 9.6, so I'll just reformat emuNAND, update to 9.4 with Codename STEAM, and call it a day while waiting for 9.6 emuNAND support from gateway. Thanks for your help!
