Hey guys, I'm in need of serious help! I have been looking out for a flashcart for a while now but can't seem to find a supplier:( looking through the forums, everything that was once uncovered is now either discontinued or like 50 quid..

I'm looking for something below 30 pounds preferably, postage to UK and anything recommended by you guys!

Would help me out no end!
Thanks!
Zak

sorry folk
for gba currently at this time and age ez iv is the thing you should get...
http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=576
yes sadly is about 45 dollars (its less than 30 gbp)
there are other shops who may sell it cheaper tough... (i seen some selling at 30 and something, dont remember where)

this card is the only practical thing you can get, you put the games on the micro sd card and it has a high compatibilty and no slowdowns etc. it works and does the job..

there are other options, that can be cheaper but they suck in 2015.. they are slow to copy games into, have a fixed low memory (you can put like 5 games on them) and you require a old computer with a paralel port and some cases a virtual machine with xp on it...

Thanks!! So if I were to get this, would I need anything else with/for it?

EDIT: what size micro sd would be recommended?

No, other than a Micro SD card.

I'd recommend a just a 1GB micro SD, unless you plan to play 50+ GBA games. It is SDHC compatible, so you could technically go up to 32GB (maybe more, I haven't tested it), but I have noticed it tends to have slower loading times with larger cards (when copying the game to the PSRAM or NOR, it doesn't really seem to hurt anything else, at least with Class 10s). Pretty much go with the smallest one that will fit everything you want. There is few decent batch ROM trimmers if space is a concern.

Sorry, your post made me think of this ;-).

To answer, 2GB should be fine, 4GB if you want nearly every roms. I shouldn't go higher than that, because I'm not sure it supports larger sizes.

Guys on here are so helpful!

Also.. Do you know of any good set-up guides? Are they fairly simple to set up? Thanks!

There's software on the EZ-Flash site you will need to prepare ROMs for your flashcart. It will come with a manual. It's probably a bit outdated and the translation is a bit rough, but it should be helpful and any questions you have after that you can just ask on here. It's not really hard, all you have to do really is just point the patcher (which is needed for ROMs to properly work) to the root of your Micro SD in the settings, then start feeding it your ROMs. There is a character limit for the ROM/Save names, so try to keep it under 42 characters or else it won't save properly.

Games under 16MB you can just hit A over and it will load it into the PSRAM. Games over 16MB will have to be copied to the NOR. You just hit Select over the game you want copied to the NOR and then launch it from the menu before the Micro SD menu.

Now, saves will not be saved to the Micro SD until you return to the EZ4 menu, either through patched soft resetting or by hard resetting (turn it off and on again). There's a battery in the EZ4 to make sure your save isn't lost in the meantime.
To answer, 2GB should be fine, 4GB if you want nearly every roms. I shouldn't go higher than that, because I'm not sure it supports larger sizes.
The newer firmware officially supports up to 32GB, which I think is complete overkill.

I feel stupid asking too many questions but.....

I found this for a cracking price but I'm a bit concerned if they're legit! http://www.gateway3ds.cn/products/E...th-Mini-SD-card-Adapter.html?setCurrencyId=12

It comes with an adapter too! Any of you guys bought from here? Is it legit? (I am very tempted!!)

Never bought from there, so I have no clue. That is the older model of EZ4, though, so the same advice applies. That's actually the model I have and use. I'd do some searching and asking around about that site first, though. I'm sure some google searching and thread searches will turn up something. If it doesn't at all, I'd avoid it.

I could spend another £10 to get the newer version.. Would that be worth it?
I'd be happy buying from there^ because they do returns and have a warranty!
Not many reviews but positive however, might be worth a try!

It's up to you. The older model is fine as long as it comes with a decent Mini SD adapter (some of the older crappy adapters are very finicky and may cause endless frustration with failed saves) and the site is reliable. I've bought from nds-card.com before, so I can vouche for them.

thats the old model. its exactly the same thing, diference is it is a diferent colour and uses a MINI SD card instead of a micro sd, but you can use micro sd with an adapter..

i don't know that store. dont know if its legit..

if that card comes with a old firmware, you probably will need a card with less than 2gb to update it

old cards dont support SDHC without the update..

i have that white version.

new firmware (1.75 or 1.76): you can use SDHC but loose some SD support (you can use 4gbs and up cards, but some cards with 2gb or less will stop working)
old firmware (1.74 and down) it only supports SD cards (maximum 2gb)
only firmware 1.76 can work propertly with 32MB games.

the new card (the black one) already comes with the new firmware and SDHC support, i am not sure how is the compatibility with older cards (less than 2gb)

after getting the card, you just have to copy the games with ez iv client. (they need to be patched with that program)

games larger than 16 MB must be copied into the card internal memory (NOR) that means, you select the game and instead launch it, press select and it will copy into the memory, you will need to wait 2-5 minutes or more... (it depends on the game) after the game is copied to the NOR you can instant launch it.

you can also copy several small games to the NOR so you don't need to wait the 8 seconds loading (it is a 32MB memory, you can put 2x16MB games for example)

what games do you want to play btw?

Sweet thanks guys! Was planning to play average games like pokemon, mario, Tetris, mini machines etc! I'm planning to buy one from that Spanish site so thanks for the link, Jozzef!

Btw, if I were to get windows vista (on a mac using bootcamp) would that work sufficiently? Thanks guys, this forum site is literally the best!

I bought an EZ 4 microsdhc version about two weeks ago and it's very good. You should not get the mini sd version. That one is often the same price (or, mysteriously even more expensive) than the micro sd model. Using micro to mini sd adapters is not recommended, even by the ezflash team. And since mini sd cards are hard to come by, the micro sd version is the flashcart you want.

I only have one quirk with my ez4 and that is that it wont work in my ds lite. It'll work on my gba and gba sp, but the nds lite will freeze with a white screen (maybe a flashme issue, though)

I bought mine from aliexpress, the sellers there often ship worldwide for free, someone else on this board mentioned this shop:

http://www.chollomedia.es/epages/61488288.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61488288/Products/nds_ez

I have no experiences with this shop, though.

Hahaa funny, one problem is that its an older mac() so thats probably not an option!!

What year is the mac?

Mac's honestly hold up their value good, I got a mid 2010 macbook pro from my mom after she raged and I gave her an old thinkpad I got off classifieds for $80, looking around classifieds for the same macbook its like $500+ compared to my asus laptop which is essentially worth poop right now from the same year.

If you are still on the case for an EZ Flash IV, I ordered one from Chollo Media for just over £20 on the 24th of April and it arrived today (I'm in the U.K). Looks like it also comes with a replacement battery as well. (Photo attached).
