I hope someday KARL would be able to re-write/redirect the 3DS recovery mode, so that we could manually restore sysnand without having a hardmod, though it would be difficult or possibly even impossible.

it does say 9.5 or lower basically any pre 9.6 nand backup is good....i think i might know what it is, but maybe im underestimating the situation

Yes. The devs have said that KARL will use its own more efficient emuNAND format, but that it will be easy to convert a Gateway emuNAND to the KARL format.

So use the Gateway make a backup of your NAND now (and you might as well setup an emuNAND partition if you have the space), it will work with KARL when it's eventually released.

2. MSET working once system is first compromised and you install a few system files/things
