Hardware Bottom screen new 3ds

Hello,
I was playing on my new 3ds xl on mii plaza when i putted it on sleep mode. When i opened it again, everything worked fine and when I went to the 3ds menu, the bottom screen wasn't working anymore.
What can I do?

Call in for a warranty replacement by the sounds of it. But if you were holding out for GW by not updating, they will likely update it for you, or send you a new unit with the latest FW.

Not necessarily. Chances are that if the screen is internally cracked and he requests a replacement, they'll just send him a boxed New 3DS, they might not bother updating it.

Rumor has it if there's a Mii in the plaza that looks like this and you close your new 3DS while looking at him (they can tell with the new eye tracking technology) the bottom screen will be stuck like that forever:
