Hi,

What NNID is it for?
Can I play online, use StreetPass, access to eShop without it?

I ask because I saw that it's preferable to don't have one to don't be banned

It's similar to having a PSN account. All your purchases are saved in your NNID so that you can re-download them at anytime. And other stuff that I can't remember.

Well, the "ban" part is mostly if you're using a rom that has a public header that every person uses. It doesn't matter if you have an NNID or not.

Ok, thanks man! :)
I use my own header (from my game that I've bought brand new) on all my ROMS, so it should be good?

For now it seems so, I think that no one that used the same private header in many games has been banned, but I am not reading new reports often.
Of course, this may change in the future... or not...

Purchases are tied to NNID, so you can redownload and format your system safely, without losing purchased titles. It's also your "gamer tag" for some games.
That was before NNID came to be.

So if I buy a 3DS, sign up with a NNID, lose or break said 3DS and buy another - I can re download the games I previously purchased?

It doesn't do a whole lot, TBH. But you will need it in order to buy things from the eShop. It doesn't make a difference for anything else.

Nope. While the games may be tied to the NNID, the NNID is tied to that system and that system only until you use system transfer. This is obviously to prevent downloading multiple copies of the same eShop games.

I hate ordering stuff online if I can go buy it somewhere close to me, and everywhere anymore will give you a discount only if you order it online, bs. Should be a discount if I go pick it up, not order online.

I love it for most things most stores you just shows the receipt online and they scan it

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Mostly for big purchases, I want it in my hands before I pay. Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc) But yea if I can order online, then pickup at store is ok, but not all places offer that.

Thing is, if you break it driving back to your house, it's your fault. But if the delivery driver damages it, it's not your fault.

Most people that haul big tvs have empty trucks or know enough not to set it face down
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Then I gotta send it back and wait another week or two. I have a pickup truck, with a extended cab, so no prob for me.
