As it says, all of the damned loaders out there are complete crap. Wiiflow? Crap. Try to start a game sorry it locks up the console and you have to force shut down to getit back to work again. Usb Loader? Doesn't even see the damned usb drive. I can't believe just how much shit the entire thing is. Wow these loaders sure are coded well to not even work with a damned flash drive.

WiiFlow can be a bit buggy, I'll grant you that. I've had zero problems with newer versions of USB Loader GX though.
Are you sure you plugged it in the right USB Port? Always use the bottom one.

This.

I have been trying for damned days to get eithre one of these damned usb loaders to work. Nintendon't works just fine, all of the homebrew emulators work just fine. But neither of the usb loaders will even attempt to work with my 128gb usb-3.0 flash drive. Yes I know wii is only 2.0 but this bad boy gets ~35-45MB/s reads compared to ~10-15 for regular usb2 flash drives.

What are you talking about bottom one? My wii is sitting in it's stand, and I put it in the left-hand port as that's usb port 0 as far as I am aware.

USB loader alwas freezes at the 'initialize usb device' and never gets any farther, and as I said wiiflow seems to be buggy as anything i've ever seen.

Then it finally says the lovely thing "waiting for hdd:-9" and finally claims it can't find a usb device.

Edit finally: I tried using a flash drive that was formatted Fat32, in usb port "0" as I belive it's called. I put the plain iso in the root directory, I put it in GAME NAME [GAME ID]/GAMEID.WBFS and no games show up.

Wii games go in the wbfs folder on the root of your drive.

//wbfs/game/game.wbfs or //wbfs/game.wbfs

Both have worked for me.

Also you need to have cios 249 installed.

You've been at it for days and you're only now trying a FAT32 drive, and you still aren't putting things in the right folder? Smells like BS.

Sounds like someone is attempting to troll. Just in case, though.

As a general rule, you want your USB drive connected to port 0, the bottom USB port if the Wii is laying horizontal. If you use USB Loader GX to dump your games to your USB Drive, it will put them in the right directory and name them properly (the Game ID is the important part of the name). USB Loader GX supports FAT32 as well as NTFS. It also supports EXT2/3/4 but there was a significant performance hit when I tried it. Also, make sure you're running an up to date cIOS. The default settings of USB Loader GX work fine for most users.

"USB Loader" is USB Config Loader? (CFG Loader)
a lot of users call it "usb loader" while it's a generic term to match ALL homebrew launching games from USB.

If USBLoaderGX freeze at initializing HDD ....

Do you have a Western Digital?
Are you on wii or vWii ? (attention, on vWii the port0 is at the top, not at the bottom unlike the wii).

Please, check this thread where users have the same issue : https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx-vwii-stopped-working.378697/
Go back to 1218 or 1229 and let me know which version works for you.

If possible, help me debug it to fix the issue for everyone.

OP needs to understand that these "shite" loaders are the laborious work of a few individuals that want to better the Community...... Not make us rip our hairs out

First thing would be to READ a tutorial or two and to make sure u even know/understand the terminology on how to do things.....usually. Someone doesn't format correct or wrong folders n whatnot

Patience is a Virtue

They're doing things that the console was never really meant to do with hardware configurations that it may not fully be compatible with.
Considering they work for so many I'd say they're rather good.

With that said, I've never gotten them to work via Neek2o (EmuNAND), but that's fine since uNeek works perfectly anyway. Maybe you could look into that option?

There's your problem - most of the USB flash drives don't work on any USB loader. As I understand it the USB flash drives don't all have the same command sets that a USB hard disk does.

That was determined years ago and you would have to read a lot of pages to find reference to it.

It has nothing to do with the USB loaders but that you are using a cheap USB flash drive that doesn't look like a hard disk.

I've had moderate luck with getting some of the USB flash drives to work by first making sure they are formatted as a single FAT32 partition. Make sure there are no hidden partitions as that will blow up the USB loaders.

If that doesn't work use a forwarder channel that first loads from SD card and put the usb loader in the apps folder on the SD card (along with all support files).

Delete the apps folder on the USB flash drive.

When it loads you should give the option to select where the games are located. If it can't see the USB you only have 1 other thing to try.

Use WBFS Manager to format the USB flash drive as a WBFS volume and copy the games you want to it.

Eject from PC and plug it into the Wii (USB port closest to the edge).

If that doesn't work there's no way that I know of to get it working with Wii games/USB loaders.

Some PNY USB flash drives (64 and 128GB ones that I have) won't work under any circumstances that I've tried.

Let us know how it goes.

What are you talking about? USBLoaderGX is supposed to suport ext2/3/4, and wiiflow has a config string inside of the information at the bottom of the ini file. I changed it and it shows it, andthen immediately crashes upon trying t start it up.

I have a pny 128gb flash drive, MplayerCE works fine, wiimc works fine, so does vgbagx, fceugx, all of the other emulators work just fine. Only the usb loaders don't work. And I don't do ntfs because ntfs is utter and complete garbage in terms of a fs. I always do an ext* based filesystem for my flash drives unless I absolutely must use them with something else.

I am currently on real wii, I did have r1200 or something, originally. It's on the left-hand port with the wii sitting in it's stand thingy. I'm pretty sure that that's port0 as it's the one that worksmost with the rest of the homebrews. Also I don't know why it wouldn't work, it supports the complete usb3 specification and only the backup loaders don't work. All of the homewbrew media players work jut fine, and eve nintendon'tloads teh games jut fine from the games folder.

It's ios249 whatever was required/told to be used when Installed it. I also had to get an updated usb2.0 ios according to ninendon't.

R1188 actually shows the games, but immediately upon trying to start them. It ends up doing the same thing that Wiiflow does, which is locking up the wii, and near-constantly doing something on the flash drive. I went all the way back there and then it behaves like wiiflow.

Edit: With r1218. And then me using one of my ow rips that I redid for testing this. fat32 drive, wbfs Wii Sports. WiiFlow gets to the "make sure you have the strap around your arm" screen and then freezes. USB freezes immediately.

I believe I have a launch wii or very very close to it anyway as I got it pretty early on. Copyright 2006 on the bottom of it. And I got it only a little while after tp came out.

You clearly didn't read my post. I've been with the Wii mod scene for years, manage and maintain the WiiFlow wiki and have direct experience with the problem you are describing.

Not all USB flash drives work the same way as HDD's. If you want to read through the hundreds of pages you will glean this from the posts of the devs but feel free to ignore the advice.

Some hard disks don't work well with the various USB loaders either - there's a web page that lists compatibility. Google it.

Because not all USB flash drives work as well as HDD's you need to try the steps I outlined above. If you choose not to then don't expect anybody else to try and help. You can whine about things or try the suggestions.

I was having issues like you just yesterday, foxi & Co. sorted it out for me. Use:- http://www.wiibackupmanager.co.uk/downloads.html

Format your USB Stick or drive to wbfs, it says format wbfs in the program, then just find your files and transfer it over to your drives and then install USB LoaderGX wad file I find that best or just use the homebrew channel:- http://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/

Plug your USB Stick or cable into the bottom USB which would be standing up, the one on the bottom. or on its side with the GC ports on the left the USB on the bottom, dont use the top one it wont work. :)

thats it, all your games should work :)

Flash drives have less compatibility than external hard drives with USBLoaderGX too.
Sometime it seems to work as it mount it, find games, launch them, but can't write to it (dumping games just freeze before reaching 100%).

hard drive is recommended instead of flash drives. But it doesn't mean that all hard drive work either. they just have better success rate.

Recently (since revision 1219 of USBLoaderGX) more hard drives stopped working.
we will investigate the issue.
It could be application size, or memory issue, etc.
That's why I asked the user to test the old revision and if he has the same issue he should help us fix it.

Your solution: Don't use public software and take much of your money and order an USB loader by any company.

Really, that are bad and misplaced words for hobby and free software tools!!
