Well, it's not like gw would be released now.. usually it's released 4-5 hours from now, right? Let's wait and see :D

As far as I'm concerned. They have released stuff 'round midnight my time. Doesn't mean they'll always update at that time from now on but hey! Could happen!

And it was EmuNAND 9.4 too.

who are you? people seem to think you are a reliable source.
Who is he? Gosh.. 'Kinda pity you
not knowing who he is ...

I'm going to scan the real Gateway box and make an insert to match these. Might even do one for the Omega theme too. I have to step out now though so it'll have to be later.

Just for fun :

If I'm right, I'm betting the Gateway team has jobs like normal people. I doubt this is exactly a cash cow for them. Materials, paying staff, etc... They probably have a normal job and income from this supplements that pay.

That said, if it's not released today, I'm thinking Saturday. It kinda hurts, because it really shoots my New Years Day release prediction out of the water and now I won't get to use it until after graduation in May. But it's whatever. Can't make em' do anything about it, and we all know an e-mail would just get the same response "You'll have the update before classes start". Yeah Gateway, I'll have an hour to play before I'm bombarded in law assignments. >_>

I read an article not so long ago that estimated GW's profits to be in the millions. I can't remember where I saw it but it made lots of good points.

It's possible, but honestly I think it depends more on the economy in their region, cost of production, etc. While we see the "resale" value on these carts, they may actually be sold to vendors for a quarter or half what we see. It really depends on a lot of variables.

@linuxares the dev just ends up at 0
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
it's no worse than if you pirated
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
it's probably better, because not all keys on key sites are stolen
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
plus piracy is not always an option
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i heard a related story for a dev actually

    from a dev*
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
DRMs are getting stronger these days
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they bought their own game on a key site and checked where they came from and it turned out they were review copies he had given out by email to someone
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    *all* of them
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no storefront I'm aware of (at least on pc) requires the devs to pay for the keys they generate
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
they don't lose money doing this, even if someone decide to chargeback
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so that seems to be a pretty common thing, i kinda blame the dev for that one though as they were giving out like 5 keys to someone just because they asked for multiple copies for review for whatever reason and there were multiple people doing this. he should've seen the red flags
