Hi, Tempers.

I need urgent help with a friend's 3DS XL!
For some reason, whenever I start the system, it shuts down in a second or two without showing anything on either of the screens.
Last thing I know the unit been used for was playing SuperSmash and nothing preceded that could have alerted for this.

Please help me fix this mess.
Any help is appreciated!

Out of curiosity, what would make that ribbon dysfunction?
Maybe my friend did any of those reasons, plus, I'd open it to check the ribbon.

I dont no. i think its a break in the cable at hinge from opening and closing. Its more common and the standard 3ds tho.
you could be lucky and it could just be a zif lock has unlocked and the cable has become becoming unseated.
You need to check the the speaker flex zif (the cable which has a 90 degree fold.) And if that doesn't work id check the 2 zifs under the top lid for screen brightness/3d display.

Inspected them for corrosion too, And while your at it you might want to check the cable for the top screen (underside of motherboard) and 2 cables for the lower screen, (although I think its only the smaller cable which shut the conole off if faulty.)

yeah i would say just open it up and make sure the ribbon cables that go to the top screen aren't loose, try not to remove them unless your used to working with ribbon cables in a confined area, it helps to open the 3ds all the way out (i.e top screen opened all the way back)

while your there look for any nicks in the ribbon cables or any excessive wear on them

but be careful with the zif connectors they are easy to break if you don't open them carefully, even if the ribbon cables look like they are in fine, still just unlock it and give it a little wiggle and push it in as far as it will go to be sure its seated good
