Yeah the last few 100 pages have been depressing as hell to watch. I feel like if we didn't hype the update way out of proportion, this wait would have been easier to bear. It's still been fun to keep an eye on though.

Yeah but nearly 550 pages speaks for itself right? Seems to me like a couple pages here and there would have been a healthier dosage of anticipation.
And perhaps better communication skills from the GW team would have helped.

Indeed. The only somewhat defined release date was when they said they were aiming for a release before 2015. Even that is fairly ambiguous, although I take it to mean the literal last day of the year (12/31) at this point.
Oh and I forgot to mention the aim for a Christmas release, but they never stated why they couldn't meet that deadline. Who knows anymore

I bet somebody already did this and this might be fake information but a DNS lookup says, the admin of gateway-3ds.com is located in Queensland, Australia...
