I got the JP LL metallic black for $197 on nippon using EMS shipping. I'd normally wait until the Gateway releases their update to see what I'll be working with, but I was afraid that Nippon would restock with 9.3 3DS's after their week break.

Smart call I think Ill be getting the Groudon limited edition one since im guaranteed to receive it with a 8.1 firmware plus you never know in the future what price they might hold on ebay especially if theyre exploitable. Be sure to get back to us when you receive it.

Yeah that's a good idea. I'm almost positive these units are going to be expensive as hell once the US version comes out. Also, I'll be getting mine in late January when I get back to my apartment (staying at my parents for the holidays).

I bought the N3DS XL a bit too late for the Dec 27th deadline on Nippon. It's the standard version metallic black. Do you guys think I'll be safe and receive a 9.1 version, or is there a possibility they will update their stock over the week break and I might get a 9.3/9.4 console?

Yup saw it, enough time to get my stuff ready. BTW I watched a youtube video of a Japanes New Nintendo 3DS and I was able to translate the text by taking a picture with the Google translate app. Works awesome!

Sweet. That's going to be pretty useful for navigating thru the 3DS menus. Is it possible to play online with a JP 3ds in the US (or EU for that matter)?

I dont see why not, I mean as long as you use an oem game or a GW card you shouldnt have a problem. The console is only region blocked, that doesnt mean that you cant play outside of Japan.

Err.....I think you just got them to give you new stock from what I've just seen. Not sure if "new item" refers to another console, or another console from another batch.
