My friends bought 4 New 3DS LL from Japan on Saturday (Dec 13th). They're all at 9.1.0-20J (So Lucky!!! )

They're waiting for upcoming GW release that supports 9.1!

Serial numbers are no longer printed on the box so you'll actually need to open the box up and look at the actual N3DS' back to see the serial. There is a thread about what serial numbers an N3DS will have if it has 8.1/9.0/9.1 but that's about it. Try to find a place that would accept open box returns and someplace that just recently restocked. They'll likely have 9.1 but don't trust me on this. If you do get an 8.1 console don't worry too much. Gateway has confirmed there will eventually be compatability with 8.1 after 9.X support releases.
