I don't quite agree. If we think back to emuNAND, it was a major feature and required a lot of work. It would've taken a while. These days, emuNAND updates are popping out like rabbits. Sure, there was the 7.x drought, but since then, it's been smooth sailing.

The initial support (9.0-9.2) will take time (as we've seen :wtf:) but 8.x support should come around much quicker.

IMHO those with 8.1 3DS's should just keep them. They will get support, and this is confirmed, as opposed to those with 9.3+ who have very little to no chance.
They are stuck with sky3ds :ha:

Maybe you are right, but it matters just how similar the 9.x exploit is to the 8.x exploit I think. I'm no pro in this field, but that is what makes sense to me. If they are really different, then I think it makes sense to expect up to a 2 month wait time.
I'm betting they're really similar, if not the same one  (which just happened to be present in all firmwares, found in 9.x and patched in 9.3). They're not going to burn more exploits than necessary - that would just be silly.

Edit: They're only widening support because it isn't possible (yet) to update to 9.0-9.2 without a corresponding game card (none so far). This wasn't necessary with 4.1-4.5, because games were released with on-board updates in this range. I'm fairly certain that they could've extended support to 3.x and maybe even 2.x if they wanted to, with the same exploit.

Very true, unless they found an exploit that was patched by 9.x naturally. anywho, 8.x owners should look into a game or two to import to help kill time. I know i can't just sit there and stare at an unusable N3DS. That is torture.

Definitely. I got a 9.1 JP N3ds Xl, and if it weren't for Band Bros. P, I would've given in to the horrible temptation of updating :p

Fuck i got owned by customs... ordered a AUS N3DS from playasia to Canada... The console itself was $320 CAD... then today Fedex called saying that customs and duties are $60??!?!? fucking government and their laws and bullshit

i swear one day i'm gonna go to jail on purpose and earn back this money by getting free room and board

canada
not even once
i thought 275 delivered for mine through playasia was bad enough

Yeah I'm itching like crazy to play something on my n3ds ll. I have this beat up 4.5 3ds that has no L button and a partially cracked screen that I decided to start playing oot on. Which is weird not being able to use L haha. Oh well gateway will release their sheeeet "soon" :P

Saying future compatibility is one thing. backing that statement with a release is another.

prime example:
3k3y ps2 compatibility for phat ps3s w/backwards compatibility.

Wow, a lot of people seem to have taken me more seriously than I actually do.

Guys, this is the Internet, posting the baseless sh*t I do on a daily basis doesn't define me as a person. You're welcome to do so though. *shrugs*

Never stop surprising me Internet.

Guys,
I just ordered a N3ds from Australia , it was arrived to
US NY in 12th of December , how much time it usually
takes to arrives to OH via USPS

How long is "soon" in days? Usally 2 or 3 days.
so GW already delay after delay 9.2 support and lie to us.

They should at least have a release window or time frame. Saying "soon" all the time, just makes people's patience run out.

Welp. My 3DS arrived on 8.1.

I was pretty confident I'd get a 9.1 since I ordered it a week ago on Amazon Japan, and considering the amount they'll be shipping I thought they'd all be newer ones by now. Oh well, gotta hope for that 8.1 port now

Yup, gotta look at the positives, at least Gateway has confirmed support for 8.1 firmware. You'll have a Gateway ready 3DS soon enough, just don't update it to 9.4 and you'll be dandy.

Curious to see if the new release games will start coming with 9.3+ off the bat.

Probably the next will be. Not everyone has their 3DS online, so they'll force it soon.

If you really can't wait buy yourself a Sky3ds and stay on 8.1 till the GW updates arrive. Sell the Sky3ds and buy yourself a GW. problem solved ;)

I've got a 4.5 3DS and a 9.2 XL, this was a bit of an impulse purchase because I wanted a small 3DS that wasn't tacky (I love the original, but the colours, shape and glossy finish left a lot to be desired), and I wanted to ensure I'd have a 'New' console that was Gateway compatible so I could play the exclusives on it.

I guess I could have got the AUS version but I cheaped out, plus I don't like the white one nearly as much as the black.

I know, what you mean, I usually buy myself a $3 Crystal Case from ebay so I dont have to wipe the fingerprints of that surface every single day. But, knowing youve got yourself a GW compatible 3DS I would suggest that you keep it aside til the update arrives.
