How are they gradually going to be working on supporting even lower firmwares beyond 8.1 Does that mean they've had a working exploit for a long time? I seriously don't get that .. I reckon they're just trying to sell as many as possible which makes sense. I can't see any support for anything lower than 8.1 for a LONG TIME, they'd already have done It IMO. Buying a N3DS this week, I'll jump on the N3DS GW hype then, but for now I'll just stick with my 4.5 ;) feel free to hate me 9.2 newbs ;)

Guys, can anyone confirm if this version of the XL come bundled with 8.1? Im thinking on upgrading and I really like this model.

I have this One too and i can confirm that it comes here in Europe with 8.1.0E and Super Smash Bros for 3DS is Pre-installed. ;)

Wouldn't he have used that image then? :/ That's my main doubt lol.

Or maybe he meant the USA version but used the wrong pic. He is from the USA and we do have the Smash Bros 3DS XL (original XL). But I'm not sure what firmware it comes with. Has to at least be 8.1

The N3DS version or the XL non-NEW version?
The regular one.

Thanks! :D I was thinking it was with 8.1 since it has SSB but you never know what schemes Nintendo pulls.

It's pretty simple. The exploit is also in lower firmwares, but might have been discovered in higher ones first. And as these are the most common right now, these are the first to get support, whilst lower firmwares (which might be less common) come next. It's to please the most people first and go on to the minorities when the schedule allows it.

Quick... Someone talk me out of buying an AUS New3DS before I destroy my wallet...

I've only seen it on PlayAsia for $235 (including shipping), and that is admittedly an extremely reasonable price - I can't expect to find one for much cheaper. Of course, I'm also not 100% certain it will be on a firmware lower than 9.3, although It's highly likely it will still be on 9.0.

Overall, I'm trying to get pros and cons here. I'm in America, so I have to worry about region restrictions in the future. I don't want this to be an impluse buy, but as far as Gateway compatibility goes, I'm running out of time.

but food money...
