My thoughts?
The Supercard left us already a lot of years alone with the 3DS scene.
But Gateway on the other hand..................
Gateway ftw!
Edit: But yeah, Supercard is the king of the regular DS scene![]()
At least the DSTwo team didn't have a mechanism in their cards that would brick your 3DS if you had (knowingly or unknowingly) bought a clone card, and even on a few legit cards too.

I respect that Gateway was here first, but their ways of handling things that are of their concern like that I do not approve of and frankly leave me very wary of ever dealing with that team. As such, if this DSTwo+ card turns out to be legit and fulfills all the things that Gateway does, then the Supercard team will be the ones getting my money and not Gateway. If however the DSTwo+ card doesn't work on the new 3DS and its firmware out of the box but the new Gateway will, then yes, Gateway will reluctantly get my money.
Nintendo did as well though. 4.2 would brick region changed Korean wiis. If you bought one, knowingly or unknowingly and went to 4.2, you got a nice intentional 003 error.
Seriously, I don't get why Nintendo gets a free pass for their intentional brick, but Gateway does not.
So? It's not Nintendo's job to endorse piracy, in fact I wholly expect them to try and brick your console if you are using it for piracy. Thats a very silly comparison to try and draw
, but don't try and say its the same as Nintendo trying to stop pirates, as that is an incredibly different situation altogether.
Look, everybody can make mistakes. Why would someone buy a clone card anyway?
Everybody knows that those clone cards has bad support.
Look around the regular DS Flashcards, HOW MANY clones are out there?
Even clones of clones... and clones of THOSE clones.... (ugh)
If you ask me, it's actually very genius of what Gateway did. It scared the hell out of all those clone brands.
(How many 3DS Flashcards clones are there?![]()

)
It made people also wake up to not buy those clones, but the real ones.
It IS pretty f-ed that there were also fake Gateways out there, but the reseller should be blamed off..
(Oh and Gateway always stated that you should buy from the official resellers)
Again, my support is going for Gateway (no, I'm not a fanboy. I'm just a user that gives his opinion about how Gateway opened a door for the 3DS Scene. (hence the name Gateway)
Is the only thing stopping Gateway from running NDS roms the fact that, every time a DS game is run the DS Profile exploit gets reset, and has to be reinstalled?
Region change was not for piracy though. Just converting the consoles region was enough, you did not have to have any cios or similar installed.
It's not a silly comparison either. People tend to have a problem with Gateway bricking consoles. A brick is a brick.
As above, not only pirates were effected. Also what were Gateway attempting to do? Stop piracy of their device.
And which of those still works with an updated 3DS? What's your point? Why should I care for a fancy menu when my card doesn't work anymore? The DSTWOs EOS is just cheap. It's nothing compared to Wood, AKAIO or the Evolution OS (CycloDS).
It doesn't have integrated 3in1 support. With Wood or Evolution OS (CycloDS) you can run GBA games like normal DS games if you have an ez 3in1 expansion pack.
Why would anyone change regions of their Wii to begin with? If you softmodded your Wii you can run games from any region, there was no reason to ever change region of your console (a practice that is known to be dangerous on any console from any company to begin with). I mean if you got bricked for that, you only have yourself to blame.
Yeah but Gateway shouldn't be punishing those that bought other cards as I'm sure much of them had no idea that their card was a clone when they bought it, or may never have known until the whole thing bricked on them.
Same for the Wiis. A lot had no idea they had been changed over.
If people don't want to trust Gateway for their past actions, that's fine. It's just a little odd that people give Nintendo a free pass for the same actions.
Maybe you don't see it the same, see it as justified for Nintendo, then fine, I'm not going to change your position on it. At least you bothered to answer, unlike a lot who claim they are "against bricking" in any way and ignore Nintendo doing it.
I have $10 in ones in my pocket. As far as I know they are all legit real $1 bills. But can you imagine if one of them is a counterfeit and I didn't know (as they do make it out there into circulation), and I went to buy a soda or something, and suddenly I'm getting arrested and thrown into prison simply because I was using a bill that for all I knew was the real deal, but wasn't at all. That shouldn't be my problem, it should be the counterfeiters' problem.
Nintendo will always have a right in my eyes to stop any type of piracy, be it flash cards, homebrew, or even region changing. I personally don't have any problem with using homebrew or if for whatever reason you really need to change your console's region, and if you buy a console used, you know the risks you're taking there with it potentially not working at all. I see what you're getting at, but it is a very very different situation in my eyes.
The R4i Gold still works (and it supports wood officially). And not everyone uses a 3DS.And which of those still works with an updated 3DS? What's your point? Why should I care for a fancy menu when my card doesn't work anymore?
