I think you should have probably read up on the update before unleashing your tired canned response.

If you'd used the time spent looking for that picture to read the changelog you'd realise it's not just another "improved system stability and security" update.

In looks like the only casualty was a single later stage exploit. At least two other ninjas exploits remain unpatched, DS carts that worked under 9.2 still work, and (as one would expect); sky3DS still works.

This isn't the world ending update everyone was expecting. It was primarily an update for Japan to enable some NFC payment options. For the rest of the world it just added some extra functionality; namely to theme settings and extended settings for Amiibo.
Most people would consider "added more/easier methods to spend money" to be a useless update. Myself included.

However, there was one addition which caught my eye:
  • Available software updates can now be downloaded from the HOME Menu
This inadvertently helps Gateway users out. We'll be able to keep online functionality for our games without needing to access the e-shop.

nippon-yasan.com they are the best cheap and fast shipping New 3ds is 145$,Play-asia is a ripoff.
Damn, you're not wrong. I've been using Play-Asia as my go to importer for so long that I didn't realise how much cheaper alternatives were.

Thanks for opening my eyes, and thanks to all the other posts singing Nippon-Yasan's praise.

I'm sorry Play-Asia, it's been a great 10 years... but I'm falling for another ;_;

It opens the doors for emulation all the way to GBA. Nintendo sells all those games on the e-shop. Of course they wanted to block it.
but it does allow you to use emulators, which allows people to play old video games for free, instead of paying for them through virtual console. Its also possible, that the ninjhax could eventually lead up to playing 3ds games for free. I bet if it wasnt for emulators, most people wouldnt even bother with homebrew (I would) but I imagine most wouldnt

Nintendo, you dicks!

Oh man, what horrible timing. I was gonna buy the Persona Q navigator DLC when it comes out tomorrow, but it looks like I won't be able to. Thank goodness I updated my emuNAND from 8.0 to 9.2 last night.

Knowing Gateway, they'll quickly pop out a fix for 9.3 emuNAND while working on their native 9.x support. I was looking for an excuse to wait a week until the Nanako DLC dropped anyway.

I heard some saying nippon-yassan ships out slow, so I ordered at superufo.com, ships next day and is cheap too.. better than play-asia..

Finding it hard to believe you can get an IMPORTED New 3DS XL cheap than it costs to buy a 3DS XL domestic.

You can believe what you want. Shop around, you'll be surprised. Even Play-Asia had a deal where you could pick one up for just under 200 a while back. It depends on the day I guess.

lol So what your saying is that Nintendo stopped you from actually giving them your money in an attempt at preventing people from getting by without giving them their money?

I would have spent a whopping $3 on a game I don't even own. I'm sure they'll survive.

screenshots is a great feature to have, but does the unreleased Gateway update work on it? We need to add a big red warning to the OP that says to avoid the update for this, and for Ninjhax.

How exactly would we know if an UNreleased update works or not?

Looking around, there seem to be quite a few people other than myself with Japanese n3DSs in transit.

cancel now, order an AUS one. They come with 9.0 installed.

Since 9.3 update has been released, is it possible for AUS N3DS to have 9.3 installed on them? I ordered AUS 3DS on Monday and playasia won't get a new shipment until 12/12, and I'm worried my N3DS is gonnna have 9.3 on it.... is Nintendo usually this fast with including update firmware on consoles?

No, they wont come with 9.3 or higher for a while. I'm pretty sure most (all?) Japanese consoles are still shipping with 8.1

That shipment on the 12th would have been made days ago, if not longer.

Nintendo is slow at it, you will definitely get a 9.0
