Yeah. We won't know the details until we know the details, frankly.
true, but for gateway to make a bolded point im guessing they are pretty sure its getting patched.....hence the advanced warning rather than keeping quiet

that said maybe they just wanted to announce it and make sure people don't update just in case nintendo happen to stumble upon the exploit themselves

Well lets be honest here, sky3ds' method involves emulating an exact copy of the game, which is why region lock. Gateway uses somewhat similar means, which in term is probably the same code but building upon what they have. If nintendo was smart, they probably have a copy of the latest gateway and long story short, patched it.
Right. Which is why it takes them a good month or so after every Gateway launcher release to update their firmware. If the Sky3DS exploit works similarly to Gateway's 9.x exploit, then the new exploit will still work as long as Sky3DS continues to work on firmware updates. But again, we won't know the details of how Gateway's new exploit works until it's released, and we won't know what firmware update it has/will be patched in until then, either.

That isn't the case here. Sky3DS worked by creating a very solid imitation of a genuine 3DS cartridge. It's to be expected that Sky3DS will work for quite some time, even on new updates. Gateway is in a completely different situation; they found an actual, system kernel exploit, allowing them to go far beyond what simple homebrew code could ever do. We already know that part of Ninjhax has already been patched, and it's very likely that the Gateway exploit won't work at all, if not cripplingly limited.

Seems you might be mistaking my monotone statements for "saltiness." That wasn't even remotely directed toward you or our previous argument, as that was about Gateway's future exploit release on 9.x, not their previous launcher releases.

Well then it just comes back to the waiting game. We don't know what hole(s) Gateway is using for their 9.x exploit, so we have no way of knowing if Nintendo managed to find those hole(s) and patch them in 9.3.

whoa, calm down there kiddo.
That's the thing about us 4.5 3DS XL owners, our jimmies are extremely hard to rustle.

Anybody looking to buy another micro sd Fry's Electronics, not the supermarket, has the 16gb from Samsung for 9 dollars. Class 10 micro sd HC 16gb for $9+plus tax. Online shopping is avail.

Wow, imagine if they dont manage to crack 9.3. How many poor suckers would have bought a J N3DS for nothing.....

teeheehee....

I don't think they're similar because sky3ds claims it works on all firmware revs. Where as GW will only work on 2, 4.5 and 9.2 (if they release it in the next couple of days.)

i think he just wanted to know if the seller was already aware of the 9.3 update and that's why he refused to pre-update the console for him

yes you are right, anyway i will try to sell it on ebay hopefully someone who likes importing jap rpg games or maybe to a jap student will buy it but 1st let's hear what the Gateway team has to say about 9.3. :)

Imagine if they did, how much those 'poor sucker' saved? The only down point will be Japanese language though.

& outside of Gateway's capabilities region lock is the BIGGEST downside.personally i don't mind if Gateway won't work on 9.3 as long as my retail games work on jap console.

not worth the hassle & no savings to be made if i also need to import a jap game. best thing to do would be to sell it & buy aus n3ds from 365games which i have already done,it's like buying a uk console & the warranty is local if buying from 365games. :)
