Me if the new update blocks gateway. Until I play on my 4.5 atleast.

edit: screw trying to show images.

Let me present a more logical argument to settle things: Nintendo didn't even block Sky3DS in 9.3. Sky3DS' exploit has been available for Nintendo to review for over a month now. What then, do you wager the chances are of 9.3 blocking an exploit from Gateway that Nintendo has not had the ability to review at all?

I'd wager zero to none, but others are free to venture their own guesses.

the reason why i'm asking this is because i bought a jap n3ds from a guy on ebay like 6 hours ago & when i asked him to update it for me he said he can't because the box is all sealed so i'm just wondering if he already knew about 9.3 as he could have tried to update his other jap 3ds but it wouldn't update because it was removed from ninty server or maybe he got a message update to 9.3 ??
If he didn't update it for you manually, then wouldn't it come with the factory firmware (8.1.0)?

i would say it all depends on if it used a similar exploit to sspwn.......im kinda guessing it does which is why they explicitly said not to update past 9.2....in bold

Can't let it die? :p

The issue is that Nintendo only has to look at the new possible exploits added by 9.0. They've had a few months to look at every possible exploit from only the new code. Maybe that's what took them so long. I'd bet closer to 50-50 they patched at least one exploit that they THINK gateway was using.

Its hard to say considering the way the sky3ds works, no other flash card, besides the clone, works that way. I still speculate that the sky3ds works as a 3ds card emulater so it might be able to block it completely.

As for GW, we might end up having to wait longer.

Well lets be honest here, sky3ds' method involves emulating an exact copy of the game, which is why region lock. Gateway uses somewhat similar means, which in term is probably the same code but building upon what they have. If nintendo was smart, they probably have a copy of the latest gateway and long story short, patched it.

Looks like this has put the Gateway team in an interesting situation. Let's assume for argument's sake that 9.3 does in fact block the kernel exploit they found; they really don't have any more time to waste, do they? I'd assume they've been trying to spend all this time trying to make the exploit more user-friendly, but if they want to get this out there before it's too late, they need to release it within the next day or so. Otherwise, they run the risk of losing potential customers who might not have heard of Gateway, but who would be interested in something like this once it becomes more publicized via word-of-mouth or otherwize. These are people who may not even be a part of GBATemp where they would learn of things like this. They would likely just blindly update without knowing anything is at risk.

Gateway is now out of time
