Do you guys think that it's safe to buy a Gateway right now in preparation for the 9.0-9.2 support? Or is it a possibility that the older Gateways will require an older 4.5 3DS?

That won't happen. Gateway has been saying through e-mails towards other people that no additional hardware is required. :)

P.S. I already ordered mine in advance. If nothing works out, at least you'd join my club :P

You know when Gateway stats to support 9x firmware. Ya'll wouldn't be way to impressed. Because it won't support homebrew ROM hacks anymore or etc

I'm in the same boat here, really hope this 9.0-9.2 supports is happening. If not I'll probably just hunt down a 3DS with the appropriate FW for it.

This guy named on Andres chatted with me on Skype and said that Gateway will not support those methods of savedatafile and ROM hacking. If it succeeds to supports 9.0.2.0

what do you mean exactly, im pretty new to the 3DS scene, thanks.

If it can still be used to run ninjhax (which it already can) then there's your homebrew support. As for the ROM hacks, it's kind of a moot issue as there aren't that many to begin with. The only ones that currently exist are a bunch of undubs for people who want western localizations without western voice actors, which caters to a very small niche. I don't expect 3DS ROM hacking to really take off for a couple of years, as scratching the homebrew itch is the scene's bigger priority at the moment.

I talked to anon on /v/ and he told me that GW got Nintendo's private keys. That's how they manage 9.x

so they can sign stuff? the private key is like the holy grale? the one thing we never got on the PS3 (newer models)?

Well. There's also the QR code to unlock the homebrew channel. I mean You'd have to have Cubic Ninja in order to do so obviously
