Hello , I'm planning to buy 3ds Gateway Card. How many SD cards do i need for installation and using multi-rom functions and what sizes would be good? Thanks in advance.

You need a big SD for in the 3DS (minimal 4 GB but i recommend 8 gb) and a micro SD for in the red gateway card, i use a 16GB. it fits around 15 games with trimming. edit: oh yeah, don't forget to check if your firmware is 4.5- otherwise it won't work.

Thank you for your answer. Yes I know the drill for Gateway, been doing research about it for sometime now. I was just little fuzzy about SD cards. So you would say these two cards would be good

It should be the opposite. You should get a bigger MICRO SD and a 8GB SD CArd

Q1: no nothing confirmed for 3ds, only NDS mode flashcards (no, 3DS roms wont work)
Q2: DSTWO is the best NDS mode flashcard.

short answer is: always go to the latest Launcher (or GW firmware is you will)

now explaining a bit, it depends on what games you are using. If you're not required to have a newer 3DS system FW like 8.X or 9.X, then stick to what you have, otherwise you'll have to update your GW launcher.

Example, if you fell like playing SSB, you'll need emuNAND 8.1, which is only playable with 2.3+.

How exactly do you update? Do you replace just the launcher on the SD card or you have to use the blue card again?

Yes!
If you want to use a newer emuNAND, of course you'll have to update it but in order to update your GW "firmware" all you have to do is replace the Launcher.dat inside your SD Card (not the micro SD where the ROMs are)

What's you SD Card capacity?
SSB needs a SSD bigger than 2Gb.

The Gateway firmware has yet to recognize saves created with newer firmware encryption. Once it does (Hopefully the next update), you can use your save.

What's you SD Card capacity?
SSB needs a SSD bigger than 2Gb.

My SD card is 4GB and it has a lot of free space. My MicroSD is 32GB FAT32 and also has like 3 GB free space. Other games run fine, just the smash bros won't work

Should work with gateway, but i heard that firmware 4.1 got some glitches. You can try updating to 4.5 via a gamecard. But please make a NAND backup via gateway before you do that and stick to the guides. Also if you are going to update via a gamecart turn off your wifi otherwise the 3DS will download the newest firmware.

temp I need some help. my gateway bluecard is not being recognized by my 3DS and I'm not sure why. Haven't used it for months b/c I haven't had to until now. prior to this I had updated my emunand to 9.2 and was hanging around on the eshop. I am on 4.2.0.9

vary rarely the game icon will appear after many tries, but I get the "turn off the 3DS" error. used to work normally. my 3DS cartridges read fine. retail DS cartridges read most of the time. what are my options? is there an alternate way to load the exploit? I read it's possible to try a different flashcard but I only have a DSTT & AceKard 2i...

Any DS flashcard that works on 3ds 4.1-4.5 can be used to load the exploit

Yea, SDXC should work as long as you format it in the exFAT format.
edit: only SD cards that size for 22 euros are a little suspecious, they could be fake. I don't know for sure tho, i can't read french ^^''
