I did the backup of the NAND, should I format emunand? (I didn´t install one) or should I put the Launcher.dat of the CFW in the SD instead of the Gateway?

Use the gateway launcher to create the emunand partition on your sd card :
http://www.gateway-3ds.com/downloads/
- Execute "gw_installer.nds" wuth a nds flashcart to install the exploit
- Backup your sd card data
- Put the launcher.dat file on your sd card
- press L in the DS Profile Settings to go to the gw menu
- Select Format Emunand then Backup Nand

Then follow the instructions.

I finish the backup NAND, I don´t have Emunand installed. Now what?

Can the following be done? Install this CFW-CIA thingie, use it to install devmenu.cia. Devmenu.cia is now installed in the cfw-emunand. Replace launcher.dat with GW2.5. Boot into and update emunand to 9.2. Enjoy gw emunand with devmenu installed

I think the CFW gives you the permisions required to run the dev menu. I know for sure Gateway's emunand will cut the system off before devmenu even begins to open.

Yeah I tried that, GW emuNAND won't let it load at all, doesn't show on the home menu.

Seriously, now after I install the CIA with the CMD tool, it doesn't appear one the 3DS.

Here is what ther CMD says :

C:\Users\arnold\Desktop\3ds cwf>installcia 192.168.1.123 1 DevMenu_2x.cia

C:\Users\arnold\Desktop\3ds cwf>ctrclient --serveradr=192.168.1.123 --customcmd=
"installcia:1,0 DevMenu_2x.cia"
ctrclient: connected to 192.168.1.123
Sending CIA install command...

I have the same issue. How do you solve it?

Sorry, it's a bit messy and credit to Arnold0 for telling me how to do it.

I know I had issues installing the DevMenu so I'm writing this tutorial to show a pretty painless way of installing it.

1. Launch the GW3DS exploit so you're at the GW3DS menu. You want to dump your NAND to the SD card.

2. Backup your NAND.bin file to your PC.

3. Now you'll want to boot into the GW3DS menu again and select "Format emuNAND".

4. Once that's done go to your PC and open the NAND.bin you extracted earlier in HxD. Now here's where things get tricky. You want to copy lines going from offset 00000000 all the way to and including line 000001F0.

5. Once copied go to the beginning of the code. (To the right of where it says 00000000 under offsets.) And click Copy Insert. Once you've done that go ahead and save the NAND.bin file.

6. Almost done. Next put your SD card that you formatted emuNAND on and open up the emuNAND tool made by n1ghty. Click the option to insert emuNAND and insert the NAND.bin file you modified.

7. Now you're going to want to download the files off of GovanifY's website. Throw the files in the 3DS_Stuff folder into the root of your SD card. Extract the rest of it to your Desktop or wherever.

8. Next up you're going to want to get your DS flashcart's microSD card ready, you'll just want to throw thisfile onto it.

Alright so you think you're ready to install the DevMenu? Hope you're ready to reset your 3DS about 50 times.

1. Boot up your DS flashcart and run the NDS file you downloaded. You want to install the Homebrew Rop Loader 4X, (Not the MSETBOSS one. The other one.) Once that's done go ahead and exit to the 3DS main menu.

2. Make sure you have your SD card that you formatted emuNANDon and injected the NAND.bin in the 3DS and go to Settings->Profile->Nintendo DS Profile. Hold L when pressing Nintendo DS Profile.

3. Now your top screen should be blue, and the bottom screen should flash white for a second. If it didn't flash white then you're going to have to restart your 3DS. Keep doing step 2 until it flashes white and your 3DS reboots. (It won't give you an error.)

4. Perfect. Now that your 3DS rebooted and you're in the 3DS' main menu go to your computer. Those files you downloaded from GovanifY's website are going to come in handy. Open run.bat in Notepad and replace "IPTOMODIFY" with your 3DS' IP address. Save run.bat.

5. Now run the run.bat file. If it says it can't connect, keep trying. Eventually it should send a CIA Install command. Congrats. If it doesn't then you'll want to reboot the 3DS, and try again from step 2. (You don't have to keep editing the run.bat file. Once is enough.)

6. If it worked, turn off the 3DS. Turn it back on and do the Settings->Profile->Nintendo DS Profile exploit again except don't hold L. It make take you a few tries like it did before until the 3DS actually reboots into the menu.

7. You should see a gift box on your 3DS' main screen. If not then you might need to download something from the eShop. Which requires you to be on the latest emuNAND, connect to the eShop, download a demo, and then reinjecting your modified NAND.bin file into the SD card. (I had a backup of my SD card with demos from the eShop so I just copied that over to the SD card.) Congrats.

Even if this will play 3ds games it seems very unstable I will just stay with Gateway:

  • The format of the run.bat file is: IP Address of the 3ds, followed by the mediatype of the CIA you want to install (0 to NAND, 1 to SD, 2 to gamecard) and his name.
  • This CFW is redirecting all NAND functions to sector 1 of your SD. Your NAND need to be written to the sector one of your SD card or it will NOT WORK.
  • This CFW is pretty unstable and booting only rarely because of multithread and ARM11 injection bs's if I'm not wrong.
  • This CFW is patching basic signature checks, redirecting NAND, and injecting an am:net server code if L button is pressed. That's why it is called a CFW

Someone said me to make gateway emunand, download something from the eshop, then remake this 4.5 nand on sector 1, then restart from the start point and it worked. I wonder how as the game I downloaded from the eshop was not event there, but the dev menu did apear when I redid the CMD thing then restart. Now this works too :

People are really sorry for a chinese mafia company making money out of piracy? Lol...

No one said to be sorry, so I think you read that somewhere else :)

Some people just said they are careful and won't install leaked things, especially when they got leaked with "weird" (to stay polite) methods. Especially when they already have a working method.

Like I said, my PS3 is still in Rogero 4.55 for the same reason (4.60 is a leaked, non-final, version).

So please, just try to find a better reason to troll, I'm sure you're capable to find a better one :)

But if you want to install this CFW and give us your review, feel free to do so, personally I'm interested to know if it's good or not, just out of curiosity.

I think you can hold up on the dpad while booting Gateway to let you update from a ROM.

Yeah, it disable the protection and let you update from a rom/cart. It was the trick used to get to 8.1 for recent owners of the gateway during the few days after Nintendo released the 9.x

Guys what games where realesed in CIA format ? Cause http://3ds.essh.co/ won't say if games are .3ds or .CIA D:

BigBlueBox releases have both, if I remember right (.3ds file and .ca file), at least for their VC/Eshop releases.
