I've accidentally updated my sysnand to 8.x.x when trying to update my emunand. I got the blue screen to come up. Windows won't recognize the drive. I have tried both of these for the sd card adapter soldering points (I'm using CLK on the back of the board, it is still connected/soldered):

http://gbatemp.net/threads/nand-flash-dump-3ds.353263/ I assume something isn't soldered up correctly. An suggestions?

Do you have a continuity tester (or multimeter that has one included) to test points with? Also it might help to post pics of both ends of the solder job.

Hello!

So, since you said you're using CLK from the "back" of the board, I'm assuming you have a XL version...

Post a picture of your installation (3DS board and the SD) , this way it'll be easier for us to figure out what you're doing wrong.

Cheers!

I have a regular 3DS, not and XL - I thought the alt point C106 was for the regular model? I'll get some pics in a moment.

CLK is under the game slot on the original. He is referring to the alternate point for it on the other side.

Does it not detect anything, or does it beg to format?

Should be able to use Win32DiskImager to write the Nand out.

Does nothing. I can boot into the regular sys menu when the SD is not plugged into the card reader, when plugged into a card reader I get the blue screen - then attach to my pc and nothing happens, no ask to format, no drive letter, checked the drive manager and still nothing.

Sorry about the pic quality, can't find my camera. The point on the back is soldered to the point C106, not the one to the side of it nearer the larger pad (if that makes sense). 2014-09-04_10-19-14_600.jpg2014-09-04_10-22-13_916.jpg2014-09-04_10-20-35_457.jpg And no wires are touching.

I can't see anything, but, are you sure you soldered all the pins to the correct place?
It's very easy to confuse the pins in the SD side. You could have everything soldered correctly at the 3DS mainboard but swapped something in the SD. Double check your wiring.
Also, how long is your wires? It tends to give us odd behaviors when the wires are longer than 15cm.

I always go for the lowest I can have when doing my flashcarts unbricks or whenever I need to do this MOD.

Good luck!

Pics are crap I know. I added some red circles to show where I have it soldered and which points. The pic of the back shows the c106 that i have soldered, near 114 and 113. I'll try and get some better pics. The wires I have are fairly short. Only 3 - 4 inches long, so about 10 cm max.

Ok!
And what about the other end? I mean, the SD? Are you sure everything is soldered at the proper place?

One time I was doing this I faced a similar situation and spent 1 entire day checking my motherboard soldering and the culprit was the SD.
When I do this mod I always give a "short" cable, prepared with a mini-USB connector and a microSD to SD adapter. Something like this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7t6wq0s2rh56lcc/2013-10-30 09.02.34.jpg?dl=0

I figured out 1 day later I had "swapped" a wiring inside the microSD to SD adapter. I had to crack it open and have a "recheck". So, bottom line is, always check your wiring before testing.

Also, how are you "connecting" the 3DS to the computer? I have seem some issues with some SD readers. Specially the ones "bundled" with notebooks.

PS: semi :ninja:'d by gamesquest1 in my last phrase

yeah most likely a bad/incorrect solder point on either the motherboard or adapter, or a incompatible reader......try a few different readers if your sure the soldering is good

Take a look at the SD part of this pic:
xEk44xf.jpg

Exactly how I have it on my SD.
7 - Dat0
6 - GRD
5 - CLK
3 - CMD

I'll try and resolder the CLK, the others have larger pads which were easy to solder on. I'll also try a different SD adapter and see. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

USE FLUX!!! I cannot understate the importance of it. It will allow the solder to bond much faster/easier.

Oh my god.. I really hope I never update my 3DS accidentally, those picis look well dodgy  Looking at those I don't think I would bother thanks :) but shit man you have some guts and I thought the 360 was going something!
