Hardware PS2 - to - Wii controller adapter

Hello,

I recently ordered a couple of these PS2 - to - Wii controller adapters (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-White-C...ideo_Game_Cables_Adapters&hash=item5404adb5c2). They plug in just fine, but it appears that the only inputs that are being recognized by the various emulators I have tested it with (FCE Ultra GX, Wii64, etc) are the left directional stick and the start/select buttons. X, O, Square, and Triangle, as well as the L1, L2, R1, and R2 buttons, are not supplying any input to the Wii. The same is true on the Wii home screen... the left directional stick and the start/select buttons are the only buttons that work.

Does anyone here have any experience with these adapters and/or know how to make them work with these emulators? I have tried adjusting the button mapping settings in the emulators' settings, but that had no effect.

I ordered these adapters because I could not find any low-cost Wii controller solutions or use with emulators such as Wii64. N64 games just aren't very pleasurable to play using the normal Wiimote.

Is PS2 controller original? I know PS2 to GC adapter which does not work with some non-original pads.

Turns out, both controllers were broken. They had not been used in years, and they worked fine before they were packed away. Strange...

Anyway, I ended up buying two of these (http://www.gamestop.com/ps2/accessories/ps2-controller/28592), and they work perfectly with the adapter.

How are the buttons mapped for this adapter? I want to use it so I can play on snes9xgx with a PS2 controller and I want use the following button mapping:

A = Circle
B = X
X = Triangle
Y = Square
L = L1
R = R1
Start = Start
Select = Select

Is this going to work out?

its not the same adapter but its close...

i do have a ps2 controller to gamecube adapter..

its not the same adapter and the button mapping is really odd on VC titles...

PS2 = GAMECUBE

L1/R1 = Z
L2 = L
R2 = R
CROSS = A
SQUARE = B
CIRCLE = X
TRIANGLE = Y
START = START
select does nothing

but i am pretty sure the adapter mentioned above does have a 1:1 button mapping of the classic controller. ( i mean, the buttons in the same position)

Thanks. The reason I asked was because I know the button mapping for the PS2 to GC adapter isn't the best for SNES emulation.

If you're playing on snes9xgx, I believe you can map the buttons however you wish in the emulator.

Yes, but I just wanted to make sure all the buttons are mappable (in the case of the PS2 to GC adapter, they're not all mappable, which is why I asked).

Well anyway, I just went ahead and bought one so I guess I'll just have to see. I'm really really hoping this works well.

I'm sure you'll love it. It has worked great with the Wii emulators for N64, SNES, NES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, MAME, Atari, Genesis, Playstation 1...

I wonder if there's the other way around? Wii Classic Controller to PS2 or Xbox360 to PS2. I'd love to play PS2 games on a PS2 with a good controller instead.

It's been a few days since I last played around with it, but I believe the "analog" button functions as the Wii's "home" button.

I highly advise that you do "NOT" get that arcade stick. The buttons and joystick in that arcade stick have poor quality and will break down in a short amount of time and have issues with adapters/converters. If you insist on getting a PS2 arcade stick i recommend this arcade stick, the tekken 5 arcade stick made by hori.

The best stick to get for the nintendo wii is the tatsunoko vs capcom arcade stick made by Madcatz. the buttons and joystick are good in it and if you ever need to replace parts in it, they are easily swappable with sanwa denshi buttons and joystick.

Capcom one looks nice, however I can't find it in stock anywhere (for under $100, at least). What specifically is bad about the Mayflash stick? All the reviews I saw said it had pretty good build quality.

For the people that say that the stick has good build quality are most likely first time arcade stick users.
The joystick in it feels very loose and the buttons use rubber contacts on a PCB that are very imprecise and are prone to fail after a few weeks of heavy use. It is possible to replace the stock parts in the mayflash arcade stick once the joystick and buttons die out in it but it require some soldering and using a dremel since all the parts inside the joystick are soldered to the PCB itself inside the arcade stick.



With the Tatsunoko vs Capcom arcade stick you can just open the stick up, and swap parts since nothing is soldered to a PCB. It uses all quick disconnect wires.

How are the stock buttons/joystick on the TvC controller? I'd rather not replace them if I didn't have to. Also, are you aware of where I can get the TvC stick?
