Hacking Restoring Wii back to original

Hi,

im new to this forum but in short i hacked my Wii about 2 years ago (running 4.1E at the time) after putting it away when it was working fine i got it out again the other day and it no longer wanted to play, i tried the guide on this site and i also tried using modmii (using it to update to 4.3E) but neither of them are allowing me to play my backups, each time its just a black screen , modmii usb loader doesnt even want to work just a black screen or hangs on the initial cfg screen.

when im trying a few things i get a black screen DSI code i.e. installing homebrew channel downloads an update, starts extracting the crashes.

id like to restore it back to original so i can just go back to using the discs (it was only modded in the first place to stop my 4 year old ruining the discs, shes now 6 and has a better understanding)

also hoping a fresh start will just restore everything and i can try a fresh hack but at the moment i would just like a Wii i can play my games on!

Homebrew Channel can't ruin your disc drive. I'm pretty sure you need to fix your disc drive.

You need to get it fixed

would that explain not being able to run backups from a hdd? or does the sys check show that?

Ok, i can confirm my drive is working fine and i have just had a game of Wii Sports on it to confirm this (first game to hand!), i did then try backing up the game and after getting to 99% on wiiflow it then gave me a black screen DSI error, then i tried configuarable USB loader and it hung on the CFG screen again???

any ideas at all folks?

also is there an easy way to return to stock skin as even if i cant get rid of the softmod i would atleast like it to look normal if i can run the games from disk (using a red/black one from modmii

I downgraded to 4.2 using modmii and then did a system update, this left a few apps but i removed homebrew channel manually and its all as new now (im sure i risked bricking it doing it this way but it worked)

I got a DSI error on WiiFlow, and the game still installed.
