Hacking Multi_Mod-Manager question

so I heard that multi-mod manager requires nothing but a homebrew channel to run.
is that true?
i'm hacking my friend's wii and I also want to install priiloader will it give any errors?
also my friend's wii is fresh so theres no modification on it

You can use Multi Mod Manager with just the HBC.
