Assuming we are not talking N64 rainbow road style glitches surely half the point of a lot of the tracks is the shortcuts and what they can do for you.

No i pretty much mean the normal shortcuts, its a self imposed handicap.
Thats just what i do though, its not like i expect anyone to do the same :)

same for people who have an icky dpad. on my first ds lite, the dpad would only accept the left input if hit with a bit of force, which was just bearable to race, but two slideboosts in succession were pretty much impossible with that. i also know of people who broke their dpad through snaking or trying to do it. i see it as a bad omen when that happens.

What the hell.
How can you break the d-pad!?
That... its not possible!???
Snaking doesn't require mashing of the dpad...
Just gentle left right in fast succession...

i say it's fine, as long as it's not a glitch
i figure if you're mlgpro enough then you can totally whoop someone's ass even if they're being cheap
if it turns out to be a glitch though then that's something that the devs should look into and patch
specially since glitches are usually undesirable-- well, for devs anyway.

break as in it gets unresponsive. like some games seem to be prone of killing the l and r shoulder buttons cause they're used a whole lot, people into snaking seem to have a higher chance of messing up their dpad (at least in one direction). or so it seemed in random mario kart boards
