Hey guys, anyone knows a good place online where I can get a good charging cable that doesn't spoil like the day after i use it? I've already gone through about 5-6 cables that cost about 8-10 dollars each. they either charge reaaaaaally slowly, or not at all (usb cables) or they kind of just charge for like 3 secs and then die forever.

Asking around as a last resort before i blow 30 bucks on a cable from Samsung... man those things are not cheap.

if your having numerous cables blow after one days usage then first of all I'd be checking what you are connecting these to, IE your laptop or a 3rd party charger because that shouldn't happen. Also, you dont want to be charging your Note 2 via PC or laptop. They just dont kick out enough juice over the USB to make it worthwhile (the official charger will do the job in 90 minutes @ 2amp.

doing it via either my official samsung wall plug adapter, or my power bank. when i use the cable given to me by samsung, it works fine on both.

I don't think your cables are broken.
My Note 3 has serious problems charging with anything other than the official cable with the official wall adapter, it'll be limited to 500mA which in some cases is less than what the phone is actually consuming. Official USB 3.0 cable on a PC with USB 3.0 also works, however quite slowly but usable, since USB 3.0 provides more charging current (850mA)

If I use another wall adapter with the official cable, it charges very slowly. If I use another cable with the official wall adapter, it charges very slowly. There must be something different about the circuitry that allows fast charging.

they are broken. i can't charge my dad's s3 with them anymore.

i got ap retty good 3rd party cable once and it charged just fine but again broken down days later and wouldn't charge anything ever.

it's not like i treat my cables very violently or pull on their ends or anything either. it's just so weird. i charge my 3ds with the same samsung wall adapter and power bank and they work just fine, so it isn't them.

I don't understand why these cables are so expensive where you come from. But in the UK you can get an official charger that comes with the official cable for just over £6 (about $10)

doesn't ship to singapore. damn. but perhaps i may have overestimated the amount the official cables cost. better do a check again...

I do not know about this case but for Apple stuff with fast charge they do things like tie the data lines together with a certain resistance (which the device measures), seeing the resistance it wants it will then stop limiting charge current and the like.

Ah, it might be something like that. It would certainly explain a lot.

Have you tried using it with something other than a phone? For example an external hard drive.
The S3 would probably not be much easier to charge than the Note 2 if it was only charging at 500mA. That's hardly enough for any phone with more than one CPU core.

Edit: Actually, does it show the charging icon? Can you connect it as USB storage to your PC using the cables? If the charging icon is shown and it can connect to your PC, the cable is probably not broken.
I can't see how they could just break for no reason, unless you are treating them roughly.

There are two chargers you only need to concern yourself with.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-OEM-Bla...S_Cell_Phone_PDA_Chargers&hash=item20e142e49f

and

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anker-18W-3...S_Cell_Phone_PDA_Chargers&hash=item4ac745d617

The Blackberry charger is 1st-party quality, outputs at nearly 2 amps, is 6 feet long (around 2 meters), and most importantly: cheap. Many chargers can be under $5 but are rarely this powerful and built this good. Blackberry chargers are often overlooked because the products they go to are socially-dead. Its one of my fastest-owned chargers second only to my ANKER, but with the ANKER you're paying extra for those 2 ports, and you have to BYO-cable. My cable of choice is Amazon Basics Micro USB - 6ft.

just checked. official from samsung shop is the equivalent of about 21usd. i'm also not so sure i trust listings that say "official cables/official products" on them, bought like two and they were among the spoiled ones. weren't cheap either....

it doesn't. it kinda connects, disconnects, connects, disconnects, rinse and repeat. i don't have anything else that i can use it with, actually.

i need usb charging cables, not straight to socket ones... can't use em with my powerbank.

but hm. according to what you say, seems like the ones i bought all only output at 1amp, since they charged really slow before they died anyway. the official samsung cable charges faster. so i guess it is a 2 amp cable.

The official amazon charging cable is a GREAT cable (also goes great with the amazon fast charger)

i'll check it out

edit: none of them ship to singapore. ugh this sucks

Nearly all USB charges output at 5 volts, but the amperage may vary, save for the exception of some tablet charges that require 15 volts for no good fucking reason making your power banks useless. I'm looking at you ASUS Transformer 300... you stupid fucking tablet, you. If you're looking for just cords, then the one thing you need to worry about how well the connection fits and hold. Some $10 and $15 braided cables sound really nice and swanky, but even they can be too bulky to fit into some devices and can slip off for like no reason. AmazonBasics cables are the best you can go in your price range, gets you a solid built cable that knows to stay in place.

Though you really shouldn't ignore that Blackberry charger. Everyone needs a speedy charger, and you'll be hardpressed to find one as good for under $5. It'll charge a Note fast, a powerbank fast, and pretty much anything as fast as they're capable. Most USB-charged devices these days won't overload into dangerzones when the amp input is more than the charger it came with. Plus I think that charger is one of the highest rated on Amazon? http://www.amazon.com/Blackberry-Fo...1405760758&sr=1-3&keywords=blackberry+charger Under $5 and 4.5 Stars; 300 reviews, only 20 of which are below 4 stars? A winner to me.
