Nintendo's servers have been getting hammered since yesterday. NUS is giving me 503 errors :/

I really don't think this update fixes SSSPwn because there is no reason for them to further patch an exploit with no entrypoint.

Though it might be that they've fixed the web browser exploit used in the Wii U hack.. Or something. They're built off the same software, right?

The WebKit exploit was already patched in the 3DS Web Browser.

For the Nintendo DS... Don't you mean "All parts of the service are currently unavailable"? Because it's not working anymore at all ever.

Nintendo is patching up their leaky boat faster than Gateway can find the leaks... This is becoming sad-looking for the Gateway team. :/

did you even read gateway's response about 8.0? don't make people worried, please.

AFAIK, the entire Nintendo DS family's online service is contained within the DSi Shop. :P (So, they really should just remove the Nintendo DS/DS Lite references in that page)

Such spirit! much community! Many love! Wow!

Jokes aside

The r4i dual core lot updated there website saying there is a new update for both the 2013 & 2014 cards for the new one that seems to be the same as before but yea seems they confirm its ok

Edit: Also I noticed that club Nintendo registered me even though I have not done so yet, I had been holding off to use my pin for my console when a free offer came up about to check that now

Even if the latest update broke emunand assuming you still had a lower emunand version that worked wouldn't you still be able to play roms offline and retail games offline? Isn't there some way to get around the firmware updates on retail cards (say for example if version 9.0 broke gateway and smash bros shipped with 9.0 then you should be good to go as long as you're on an emunand version that isn't broken?)

He doesn't know what he was talking about.

TL;DR version means just be patient. If what GW said is true, this is a non issue.

Is what I said right? I'm just wondering because if at some point the gateway became obsolete I'd still like the option to buy retail games without breaking the old gateway support

No, that's not how it works. For example, if you currently have a working 7.1 emunand, you still can't play the retail version of Tomodachi Life on it.

Why is that?
Because Tomodachi Life uses special encryption that basically requires the console to cold boot 7.X in order to work, as it'll write some stuff to a write-only thingy that is only accessible at boot time. The hacked consoles boot 4.X and only then load emuNAND though, so nothing gets written to it.

Ah, that sucks.
So if Gateway stop release updates or hit a wall in cracking encryption then no more new games even if they're retail?
