What is Amiibo ? http://e3.nintendo.com/amiibo/ (watch the video).

I wonder if there will be a Pokemon game with lots of Pokemon amiibos ?
Pokemon seems very tailored to the amiibo concept.

I do see Pikachu ... but what I mean is ... will there be a Pokemon game for Wii U / 3DS ?

Note: there will be a 3DS peripheral to be able to use your amiibos with 3DS (see picture above). Looks like a wireless Skylanders Wii portal. :)

So ... do you think there will be a Pokemon game for the Wii U with amiibos ?

I think there will be. There's definitely potential. One thing that is annoying me about Nintendo is that they're being real skimpy with the 3DS to try and revive the Wii U. Why pay little attention to the actual successful product? UGH. But I like this amiibo thing it's cool. Wii U needs a good Pokemon game.

They already done it with Pokemon Rumble U didn't they? So it's not really anything new.

I really want some of those figures just to own them not exactly to use them on a game though.

The amiibo stores stats (power, strength) *INSIDE* the amiibo. Like you could train your pokemon at home and take it to your friend's place to kick ass.
does P Rumble u do that ?

I'm really intrigued as to what amiibo will add to Mario Kart 8. Also think its great that Nintendo is finally adding content to games they've released. Don't get me wrong, DLC can be God awful, but when done right, it can be a great addition to an already great game. I'm still hoping that rumor about Mario Kart 8 getting battle arenas (as well as a bunch of new characters) turns out to be true.

So "done right" is "making you buy toys that add minimal amounts of content"? I'd rather pay $15 for an expansion pack then $15 for a toy that adds maybe a character to a game.

So a franchise that already cheaps out by cutting content to put between two identical games could now make us buy dumb toys to unlock more stuff?

G-great job Nintendo, savior of gaming!

It doesn't really add any content to the game, it just allows you to let two computer-controlled fighters and ''learn'' from the experience and level up, as well as customise it in various ways (which you can do anyway, but you can't store it on an external device). Not really sure why anyone would want such a thing, but I think most people will be buying Amiibo just for the figurines anyway. Probably not worth the money, but hey, it'll likely provide Nintendo with a decent income.

Also, why do you have such a bug up your ass about Nintendo? I mean, almost every time I see you post, it contains some form of mocking Nintendo :P

Because A) people think Nintendo is like "the last hope of gaming" when they've been practicing the same shit practices for everyone else for just as long and B) it's fun as hell to see kids actually care about video game companies like it's the only thing in their life. Like if you get offended about someone insulting a video game company you're not even part of then you need to grow up.

Like you know how if you're not into sports and you see two sports fans get into a brawl over some stupid shit? Video game fans are like that, except fatter, more annoying, and do it on the internet.

Wasn't referring the toys. Was referring to Mario Golf and Fire Emblem on the 3DS and Pikmin 3 on the Wii U. Sure Nitendo's DLC at this point hasn't reached many games, but so far each thing has been what I would want from DLC. Now before you say it, yes that kart in Mario Kart 8 thats an actual car is an example of DLC done wrong, I'm aware. But its completely free, so I'm not going to complain about it. I do love how you jump on any opportunity to misinterpret someone when they're talking about anything related to Nintendo and they have something positive to say, as if I'm the asshole.

I get that amiibo is sort of a modern version of the memory card with special features in certain games when connected (e.g. the "Figurine Player" in SSBU). Though one question that I have, which I haven't seen anyone else ask is, how durable are amiibo figures? My friend collects Skylanders and Disney Infinity figures and has managed to break some of them already. Judging from the pictures the amiibo have a thick base (with NFC connectivity) and a clear, probably plastic, rod that keeps the actual figure attached to the base. Some amiibo don't even have figures touching the base, being supported only by the rod (e.g. Link and Kid Icarus). So unless that rod supporting the figures is made out of Nintendium or some other indestructible material, I'm not buying amiibo figures. Taking them with you to a friend would pose a challenge: how are you going to transport the amiibo figures safely? I have a feeling if you throw them in your bag, they'll get destroyed in the process. At least that's how fragile the Skylanders and Disney Infinity figures are in my experience.

Nintendo just recently started doing things like paid DLC and crap like that so, no. Factually wrong there.

it's fun as hell to see kids actually care about video game companies like it's the only thing in their life

Meanwhile you get into constant arguments about a console's power and try to treat it as the most important part.

Not looking like the better man here.

OT: Indeed.
