Start menu looks different

Hmm.. I could swear usually the start bar is fuller than this..

Any advice ?

When you say start bar, do you mean the left or the right side of the start menu?

Either way, you should be able to customize the number of lines by right-clicking on the task bar, going to the Start Menu tab and then click Customize.

Correct. the top is mising

As has been said twice, top rows are missing. Specifically, the top on the left side (pinned items). Right click whatever things you want up there and "pin to start menu" should fix it.

My pinned crap on the top disappears if I use certain cleaning tools...

yep, pinned items are missing, just move the items you want to "get sticky" in the list and it will get taller

I use CCleaner and I've never had that issue. My guess is that you went overkill with the things you set it to clean and it did exactly as it was told to.
