Hi,

I'm trying to backup it but it says error. So I'm not sure if it backup it or not.
Well my gamecard was updated to 1.2. That might be the problem.

gateway only reply to sales questions, i think, right?
to backup your pokemon save you need to dump the whole rom, the save is 'inside' the rom on this game (card 2 game)

the game card does not get updated, the update you downloaded is simply on the sd card, forget about it :)

You suck at giving information :)

Tell us what you did, what you did it with, what was the outcome, any errors, etc. Come on, man! We're not psychic.

I see so I need a downloaded version of it first?

no, when you dump the full rom inside the rom it will be your savegame, if you download a rom it will have their own save...

because technical stuff i even dont know how to explain or exactly how it works, the save is inside the .3ds file its not a separated .sav

Oh ok I was going to use this save on my card anyway.
But if your backup your gamecard won't you lose everything? That is why you got the savegame backup function.

most games don't have the save stored in the 'rom' (game data)
so the save backup function would be fine

but with pokemon, this is not the case, the save is not normal, so you need to backup the whole game rom, and use a tool to take the save out of that data.

backing up only makes a copy, i have backed up my pokemon game, took my save from of it, and of course, my save data on my pokemon card is still fine :)

Yeah I had this thread up before anyone responded to the thread, so my response was way late. Sorry about that :)

you can be unable to use your data from the cart on the rom version......but it will still be there on the cart and work fine

if you have been playing the cart on a properly updated console and not emunand you will be unable to take your save over to gateway, if it has been played in emunand, you can dump the rom and rename to .3dz and then you can continue your game where you left off before dumping.....effectively duplicating your game and save

Aha yes I used the card on a properly udpated console.
Ye I'll rename from the rom. The saves are stored on the root I guess like the other dumped games?

Are you only able to backup a retail version of Pokemon X/Y with Gateway?
I own both Gateway and the NDS Adapter Plus. I first tried to backup the retail version of Pokemon X, but the NDS Adapter Plus software seemed to hang once the game was inserted.
I tried another 3DS game which was FireEmblem and that seemed to work fine, and create a backup (SAV) file.

currently, to get the save from pokemon, we have to dump the whole rom.
i don't think the nds adapter things dump the rom.

So it might be possible to use the save of my card if you backup it first?
If you dump the card it will erase the savegame.

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol

I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
