Hello, I'd like to ask for two clarifications from the 3DS Hacking Faqs (I tried asking in "Noob Paradise" but without luck):

" I want to remove all exploits on my system!
Run a DS game or a DS mode flashcart.
Shutdown your 3DS.
Delete the Launcher.dat from your SD card
Delete the install.nds from your DS flashcard's MicroSD."

Does this process remove every trace of a previous exploit? I ask this because I'm moving from a r4i to a Gateway, and I'd like to start from scratch without a reset to factory settings or other unnecessary/dangerous procedures.

"The flashcarts are spoofing the required System version and prevent the prompt asking to update your console if you play from ROMs."

I'm willing to try using a dump of Bravely Default to go online to use the street pass function (me like some villagers), and doing so avoiding using emunand. I was wondering if the spoofing will still work even if I go online with a dump. I know there's no chance the 3DS will update automatically, but I'd prefer not to be nagged by the system update alert constantly (and maybe avoid updating by mistake). I should add my 3DS never went online.

Thank you

I believe all the flashcards use the same exact DS profile exploit to work so you shouldn't have to remove it by running a ds rom... but yes that will remove the exploit. You do not technically need to be "online" to use Streetpass unless you are using the Homepass method. Then it is possible it will download a new update BUT it won't automatically install. It will nag you every day and ask if you want to update but you can cancel it. As far as I know, the only way to remove the nag is to do a format.

calm down, don't worry about doing anything :)
everything will be fine

using gateway, i think it prevents telling you about the system update in the home screen... i forget.
you seem worried about stuff and maybe that is why you don't want to use emunand. why don't you want to use emunand? are you scared about it?
there is nothing to worry about honestly.

Also spoofing=emunand.
so when i run a rom that needs 6.x on my 4.5 console, without emunand, i am not spoofing anything...? :)
spoofing is not emunand

Actually, using EmuNAND for everything it's meant for is useless at the moment. It's mainly for EShop but the latest 3DS firmware broke EShop and System Settings from EmuNAND and since you need the latest firmware to use the EShop... yeah haha. You do not need EmuNAND for firmware spoofing though.

I'm realizing I've not been very clear with my second question, I apologise.
What I'm doing is injecting a personal header into a scene-dump of Bravely Default, so that I can have access to its online functions. For this reason I thought I wouldn't need Emunand to use streetpass with this game. Did I get the whole thing wrong?

EDIT: since Streetpass has been added after 6.0 I'm guessing I can't avoid using Emunand, right?
But now that there's a new firmware update (7.2 I think) what can be done (except waiting for Gateway to update as well)? Homepass?

sure, but it is still better than normal 4.5 (if you have not updated emunand to the LATEST 7.2), you can use things like streetpass relays etc, more things probably too
even on 7.2 you can have use streetpass relays, but yeah settings is broken etc

Why would you want to avoid emunand? Its not dangerous or complicated to update to. Its simple. Open gateway menu by holding l when pressing ds profile. Click format emunand. Takes a few minutes. Make sure your nand is backed up and stored safely. Enter gateway mode go to settings should see gw3d 4.x.x click system update(only if you see gw3d)

Simple. No harm. Just make sure you follow directions and make sure it says gw3d. I really dont get why people are so afraid of emunand or of updating it. However you might want to hold off until gateway can break the 7.x encryption keys. Settings and eshop dont work cause of 7.2

There is something I still didn't get after reading the whole "how to do stuff with 2.2" thread: do I have to use Emunand to go online with my dumped games?
