The more powerful these machines become, the more resources they can dedicate to anti-piracy measures and protection. The reason PC software is comparatively easy to crack is because the protection is software-only, and only enforced by the game.

My fear in this, is it may take a long while before any hack is available for the general 3DS user. If it takes too long, let's say 4 to 5 years for such a thing. Then there is a good chance that the next "DS" will be put out on to market. This in turn, would cause most of the talent that we have, turn towards the newer hardware. I am not interested in 3ds roms as i am more interested in having a really good SNES emu and a PS1 emu that can play on a clam shell form factor device. (The shield or Pandora? too expensive and bulky.)

And one of those handhelds has been hacked for a while. And IIRC, people are making progress on the WiiU, slowly but surely.

Unless you started gaming this year, you should have had plenty of time to play SNES and PS1 games. I was able to play a PS1 at 60 or near 60 fps with my computer from 2003, so if you're typing on this website, chances are you have one that's as old if not newer than that, so you should be perfectly capable of playing then. I don't see why these guys should bother making something that only a select few are going to want to use anyway. If flashcarts are a niche market, then emulators on flashcarts are the nichiest.

Also, just have patience, it IS coming. Every console is going to get hacked, I agree it should happen faster but patience is virtue man.
There are plenty of games still to play, impossible that you've played everything.

I don't see why people are sweating it. The PS3 was released in November 2006 and it wasn't hacked until January 2010 when Geohot released his exploit - that's almost four years right there. What makes people think that hacking contemporary platforms will come any sooner?

I'd rather if the exploit was well-documented before release, an exploit is no good when you can't properly code for it and the more "prepared" the community is for it the better because we live in a day and age when exploits are patched within days from their release unless they're hardcore hardware f*ck ups (hello, Wii!).

If you use up all of your money for a game console and are left with nothing left over, you are terrible with your money. I didn't get a 3DS until I had $300. Why $300, you may ask? Well, obviously I wanted to play games on that 3DS. Of course, I ended up only buying one game, and then spent the rest on a Gateway.

If you have $X00 and want to buy a $X00 console, maybe you should wait until you have at least $(X+2)00.
