This may seem like a strange question, but is the wii2hdmi adapter capable of functioning on native Wii U content and in wii mode? I know that this may seem redundant at first as the device was made to upscale wii content, but my current bedroom setup uses a DVI monitor as a screen, with a DVI to HDMI adapter. This works fine on the PS3 as I can output audio over RCA however, the wii u can't seem to have It's two outputs functioning simultaneously. However, the wii2hdmi has a 3.5mm audio port, which I could easily plug PC speakers into, thus solving my problems.

From my understanding, the adapter seems to trick the wii into beliving the adapter is a component cable, which in and of itself can support HD resolutions on the Wii U, and then converts the signal to a digital signal. Is there any reason that this would not work? Is someone willing to try out this setup?

Thank you in advance :3

Did you update to the latest firmware? Wii U by now should allow separate audio output.

The adapter is designed with Wii in mind, and Wii only supports up to 480p output. Hence the adapter will only accept 480p input.

It should work, but you wont have native HD.

WiiU uses with HDMI port for HD, by using the wii2hdmi you wont be using the HDMI port, therefor only allowing 480p maximum (that is up scaled to 720p or 1080p, therefor not native and you will notice difference)

do you even own a Wii U? the Wii U allows up to native 1080p over Component. I know as I own a Wii U and switch between 1080p component and 1080p HDMI depending on the TV I hook it to

If the Wii2HDMI adapter acts as a component cable when plugged into a Wii U, the Wii U will allow setting it at up to 1080p. if the adapter acts as a composite cable, it will only do 480i.

but will the Wii2HDMI handle giving it resolutions above 480p is the question of the day.
someone with one of these adapters will need to test it out and see how it reacts to higher resolutions.
