I did some um TNV4 to my vita correct lol. Now sony has released a new update and I can no longer access store or remote play :/. One person suggested I get a new vita since the hack is so rare it might be of value to preserve it at least and get a new vita for everything else. Is it worth getting a whole new vita just to preserve this hack and does the hack actually have any value at all (I.e I found a craiglist posting of a guy who was selling his hacked one and I told him wouldn't I need your account info to download anything? The min I switch to my account I can't use your game lol). So should I update and kill this hack or just save money and get a new vita?

Honestly it comes down to how much the hack means personally to you. You still can't do anything with it that you can't already do with a psp. And it does not look like anything will be happening soon either since the main guy who brought us most of the psp mode on a vita has left the hacking scene. Cheaper to just get a regular psp and hack it. The only plus to having the hack on the vita is the games would look better(depending on your tastes I know some people that think the OLED screen makes certain colors look too saturated I personally like the look).

TN-V is fairly useless IMO. You could just as easily buy a PSP for $50 and have all the same and more features than TN-V has. So instead of buying another Vita, just buy a PSP and put CFW on that instead and update your Vita.

Also, the hack is hardly "rare" at all, a majority of all the Vita firmwares have had some sort of PSP Mode exploit for it, and I doubt that'll change for a while.

I bought a second Vita specifically so I wouldn't have to worry about having to choose between PSN access and all of the PSP glory that is available on TN-V8.

Problem solved.

The other advantage is to be ale to map the second analog stick to different functions (Dpad for Monster Hunter). Other than that, its pretty useless imo. I still have my psp but now im playing on PPSSPP on the Shield (With fastfowards, and save state).
Vita, well, just use it for Vita games.

Been playing quite a lot of good games lately on it.

If you are an average gamer, the benefits of PSPlus greatly outweigh the benefits of eCFW. If you want to play PSP games, get a PSP. Plus is just better value in my opinion.

This year, you're absolutely right. Last year, it was nothing but shitty ports of Android/iOS/Steam indie crap. Sony has been aggressively forcing the indie scene down everyone's throats, worse than Microsoft or Nintendo, even. But, in 2014, they seem to have realized that NO ONE wants the same game that they got six months ago for 99 cents on Android.

Don't get me wrong; I don't hate ALL indie titles. I rather like some of them. I do not, however, like that a company can hype up the "value" of its subscription-based program by stressing all the "free games", when more than half of them are ancient PSP titles or cheap indie crap.

They should set up a specific indie-centric program, where gamers who love that genre can get all the indie titles they want, and the rest of us who bought these consoles to play AAA titles by well-known developers and publishers can use our consoles in the way we intended.

I don't think that the problem was the games selected, rather the amount of games total on the brand-new platform. Obviously they wanted their big name titles to sell and push the smaller indies in the subscription, but Plus subscribers still got a lot of good titles throughout the year, a list is available here. Now, naturally PSPlus is the most beneficial if you also have other PlayStation platforms, but now with SEN on PC's you can build your PS3 and PS4 library even if you don't have those systems yet. :)

PS+ did not really become valuable to me until I bought a PS3. But, after that, it has more than paid for itself, five times over. Hell, just this year, I have picked up more AAA titles from PS+ than I did throughout all of 2013. Now, it's indispensable.

I can't help but wonder how matters look like for Sony financially as far as the service is concerned and what's its impact on profits/losses. It's a really interesting way to approach digital distribution - on one hand, you get a lot of games for "free", on the other, they're really just rentals, not full-on purchases. It's a great way to game on the cheap, but the licensing side of things has me really interested.
