Actually it could be that your middle pin is broken, you should clean all the pins and try if it works, also use compressed air to clean your 3DS cards slot, or at least just blow on the hole.

Is a fake

original
update
Multi-Rom
etc.
It's all good lol.

false
Does not recognize as a gateway card (not updated)
Boot in classic mode in omega

Please lucasferrr tell where you bought specific, so the brazilians can avoid buy there.

With so many people not knowing they got fake gateways, I wonder how many bricks related 2.0b2 were really because of fakes. Obviously we know some were legit and that diagnostic tool is a sure way to get a brick, but other than diagnostic, the chances of accidental random bricking on a real gateway might be waayyy less than we originally thought.

That is exactly what I had thought... However, gamesquest has been able to update his GW card. (And he bricked his 3DS many times.) It's legit. Same from Devin, who was an official GW reviewer, he got a new 3DS FOR DAT. IT's safe to say that the brick affected real carts as well.

I still doubt those are just fake cards. How come they copied the whole design perfectly but then they stupidly made the length of middle pin different than the one in the original?

Maybe is a second revision.

I bought a gateway from aliexpress for approx. 60$ and I freaked out that I might have a clone... But pin in mine is longer too. What a relief

If it was a second revision, they would have included that in their update.

If that's the case, then there should be someone from an official reseller with a short pin gateway, but so far everyone with a short pin has gotten it from an unofficial reseller. I do agree that what you said makes a lot of sense. It's possible they just didn't think it through and figured if it ran the gateway fw, no one would have a reason to check so carefully. The fact that no one in the community caught this until now proves just that.

wow i didnt know the gateway cards had been cloned to work with the official firmware.......suppose there is still a chance its just a manufacturing error

maybe that pin isnt long enough see if you can push the cart down (like when you remove a game) to perform the update.......be warned the update takes quite a while, and im pretty sure you screw your card up if you remove it whilst it updating

If you recall correctly, Team Gateway had an update a while back warning users that fake Gateway cards existed and were in the wild. Most interpreted this as a warning to stay away from MT-Card, and the league of bad clones (R4GD, 3DSLink, etc). The reality seems to be this though, true, fake, Gateway cards that work with official firmwares but are still fake.

Yeah I also doubt it's fake, could be a manufacturer error or what not. Try contacting Gateway and see what they say. For what it's worth my Gateway was from an unofficial seller (eachmall.)
