Are you sure that's a good idea? What if Gateway changed their bricking method and it no longer works with the usual way of unbricking?

but they would have a HW flasher and besides maybe GW remove the brick code in favor of the new DRm /having to have the cart inserted instead , would they really need to have both?

Or maybe they removed it? Or maybe it's exactly the same? Those are options too, and this is why testing is needed. Ahh, the wonders of flash carts, they always require sacrifices. :tpi:

There is a bug when you remove the SD Card and insert it right after. You got an error message and you get an infinite loop when you want to launch a game.

I wonder when you dump your own cart, if it copies the savegame too.

i want to know if there are 2 separate menu options , 1 for a complete rom dump ,and one to just dump your .sav file,it woul be a pain in the ass to dump my sav from retail carts and have to wait for a full rom dump just to get the sav file out

No, it doesn't copy the savegame unless it is a CARD2 game, where the save file is stored in the same chip as the game.

so there is no menu option to just dump sav files from retail cart, that are non NAND save games? bummer ,i thought this would replace the need for a r4 sav dongle too

Right. I was just wondering if he realizes the risk that it could take a while to unbrick if Gateway (if ever) decided to improve the bricking code. This is the worst case scenario of course. It's likely gone or the same method as before.

well there is 3 options if the brick code exists, 1 its the same, 2 the password generator is changed (could still be recovered using a nand dump and force reset, 3 they enable perma-lock....that would be really bad, and my 3ds would likely need a coffin.......

Buttttt from the looks of it either its more stable (i.e not triggering on legit cards or with diagnostics) or they have removed it

we will have to see what the proper devs make of it now

No, but someone could request an option to dump saves as well.

First Post Updated Again. PM/QUOTE ME WITH NEW INFO I MISSED OR REQUEST SOMETHING TO BE ADDED!
Another thing I noticed after updating the cart.

The system will enter to the menu only if the GW cart insterted hasn't been updated. After it has been updated, it will boot to Gateway mode if the L button is not being holded while entering to DS profile.

Has anyone had a chance to try phoenix wright or harmo knight dumps? Im grabbing them both now to test out but DL is slow at the moment. Ive only had the one crash thus far

Using a Mac, when I formatted SD to exFat -- of the 6 games I placed on MicroSD, only one loaded. The others loaded partially (white bar), then a window with "Fragment Error" appeared. Re-formatted to Fat, used the same backups and no issues.
